First I want to state I am not from Washington, we (My husband and I) are from the South ( He is from Texas and I from Louisiana) and my mother is visiting us for the holidays. Now we've been here for 9 months as my husband was stationed here for military. We have both noticed the extreme prejudice against black people here and while we arent the type to rage and scream, it does make for an interesting outing when people constantly stare at me and make funny faces because I am out with my husband who is white. Now I told my mother that Washington seems to be more prejudice than the south (yes this is true from my experience, roll ya eyes and pout if ya like) she nodded and that was it. Well today we went to this pizza shop for lunch and it was a pick up order. I did not go inside with her because I wasn't dressed for the occasion. Welll she went in and oh boy she was stared at and bot spoken to. (Goodness the people in Washington lack hospitality and just being friendly at that) and she said they were cold and felt they were prejudice. Now I do not know for sure if that's the case but I am aware of the social politics in Washington and being black here is not the best thing ever (cope, its the truth). So that's strike one you're running a business be more friendly. Strike two is that we ordered a large combo and the pizza we got was a medium and the toppings were sparse so were the sides. Fries were not crispy and the "boneless chicken wings" were similar to tyson chicken balls or nuggets if tou will. Perhaps I'm used to everything is big in Texas attitude but the pizza simply wasn't what I expected and just for that I'm deducting a star. The flavor of the pizza was enjoyable to me but my husband did not like the crust, mom and I did so that leaves with a 3 star review. The place isn't bad but fix the sizes and be more friendlier. I won't be returning though because I do not play about unfriendly service. If you dont wanna be there then why should I?...
Read moreIt was very busy today but I didn't mind the wait. I love stone oven pizza and worked at one for a long time so I get how hectic it gets. I asked for the taste of italy but put as a build your own(so it would be cheaper) as I didn't want onions and another ingredient. I really just wanted the salami and pepperoni but it said italy and I lived there for a little so I was hoping for something close. Instead I was given sausage. I went back inside and was willing to wait a little longer and asked the server if this is there idea of salami. They said no it's sausage so I told them I was pretty sure I ordered the taste of italy with some ingredients off and ordered like a build your own. He then told me that's not what I ordered. Maybe he was busy and he forgot but after waiting 2 hours and getting the wrong pizza and trying to get the right one and not is pretty frustrating. I bit my tounge and shrugged it off and was just gonna take the sausage off. I did so and the middle wasn't cooked all the way. The crust was good though for the first one but for the most part it's not all cooked all the way through. Some advice, a thinner dough might be easier to cook also a lot of sausage covering the entire pizza will not let it cook all the way through. Next time I'll just go to the other stone pizza place close by so that by the time I wait 2 hours I'll already be fairly drunk and not care. Nice looking place though will definitely enjoy driving further down the street and passing by this place, reigniting my hatred of...
Read moreI love this place! It is 2 hours away from me, and I rarely travel that way, but I try to grab food here every time I'm in the area.
I found this place 4 years ago, while on a hot wing tour of Washington state. They were MUCH smaller then, and we met the father/son team that started the restaurant. Their wings are nothing fancy, but they are done right! The wings are crispy outer, juicy inner. They have some fun sauces/rubs to try, but I'm a classic Buffalo fan, and they do it well. It's just a clean, purest, age Cayenne sauce, and you have a couple heat levels to choose from. They've got a rich blue cheese dipping sauce that is just a little sweeter than the norm, and it helps to cut the acid, and really bring the flavor through. Just a solid wing! They took our #1 wing in Western WA spot, and I love getting to drop by once in a while.
Yesterday my wife joined me (who, by some twisted perversion DOESN'T like wings), so we tried a Chicken Alfredo Spinach pizza, and it was fantastic! The crust is a standard dough, it comes out super crispy and airy. The pizza has loads of fresh diced tomato on top, and they don't cook long enough to break down. So you get this really lively, refreshing acid in each bite, that kept the alfredo sauce tasting both rich, and light. I normally think of pizza as a heavy "gut-bomb" meal, and this was NOT that.
Great joint, great people, food done right! Worth your time to check them out. OH! And it is pronounced "Brew-skies" (Bruce Ski's... get it?) So said...
