UPDATED REVIEW:
After having a bad first experience, the regional manager reached out and asked us to give them another chance. We happened to make an unexpected trip through the area, so this time the whole family got to eat there. Not only did we not have any problems, but the employees, atmosphere, and food were all outstanding. I've updated my rating from 1-star to 4-star.
The menu pricing problems had been resolved. The employees were very friendly and helpful. At the front counter was a seasoned employee and two trainees, and all three were great.
We got our food quickly and it was excellent. A bit pricey, but sometimes you don't mind paying a little more for really good quality. The burger patties are very thin, like smash burgers, which gives some great flavor. I'm not sure if they have any single burgers, but you definitely want a double.
We also got custards, and those were tasty.
I won't hesitate to eat here again.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
My son and I stopped for Freddy's after a long drive through southern Oklahoma looking for somewhere along our route with good food. We don't have a Freddy's near us, so it seemed like a good treat.
The prices have gone up quite a bit since the last time I was at a Freddy's (but what hasn't?). Over $10 each for the combos we wanted and an extra $4.29 to add a mini custard creation, which we both did. Instead, the mini custard creations rang up at $5.19 each. I pointed out the discrepancy and another employee was called over to the counter. He rang it up on another register with the same result. I asked if there was a manager who could correct the price. He said he was the manager and there was nothing he could do.
There might not have been anything he could do, but there was something WE could do. We left and ate elsewhere (Asian Gourmet, which was great). If we ever stop in Durant to eat again, it will be at Asian Gourmet,...
Read moreI had the pleasure of stopping by Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers in Durant, OK, and let me just say — this place blew me away! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, clean, and full of that nostalgic American diner vibe, but with a modern twist.
Let’s talk about the food — the steakburgers are out of this world. Perfectly crispy edges, juicy center, and layered with just the right amount of Freddy’s special sauce. You can tell they care about quality here. The fries? Thin, golden, and addictively crunchy. I don’t know what kind of magic dust they put in that fry sauce, but I could eat it by the spoonful.
And then there’s the custard. OH. MY. CUSTARD. Silky smooth, creamy beyond belief, and packed with flavor. I had the Signature Turtle Sundae and it might just be the best dessert I’ve had at any fast food place — ever.
The staff was friendly, fast, and made sure everything was perfect. Even during the rush, service was quick without sacrificing quality. They even came around to check on customers and offer refills — that’s rare in a fast-casual setting. The manager, Ryland, was amazing! He was attentive and very welcoming when I came in. He was quick and did an amazing job! He asked how the food was when I was eating and checked up on me! Another gentleman, Havoc, refilled my drinks for me many times throughout the experience!
If you're anywhere near Durant, Freddy’s is a must-stop. Whether you're just passing through or a local looking for your new favorite spot, this place delivers every single time.
5 stars, no question — Freddy’s is a fast food...
Read moreTerrible customer service, we won't be back! We had been traveling and wanted to treat the kids to some ice cream. We're pulling a 48' camper, and when we arrived the doors were locked with a sign that said lobby closed at 5pm (it was about 5:30pm). So my wife and I stood in the drive through line to place an order at the window since we clearly couldn't fit in the drive through. We waited in line for about 10 min in direct sunlight in 100 degree weather, so at this point we were extremely hot.
Once arriving at the window we started to place our order when Cody, the manager on duty, rudely stopped us and refused to take our order. He stated orders needed to be placed at the drive through box and he wouldn't take our order at the window. I explained that we were driving a truck pulling a 48' trailer and pointed to it as it was parked on the street right in front of him and that it was not possible for us to fit in the drive through. I also explained we had tried to enter the restaurant but they made the decision to close the lobby several hours early. He explained the lobby was closed due to a lack of staff and there was nothing he could do. I can understand closing the lobby but refusing to serve us because of your inability to remain staffed was despicable! I can't imagine turning business away and treating customers this way!
Don't waste your time, drive a few more miles into Texas and go to Cold Stone, the...
