I was not impressed with their burger it was definitely a high quality hamburger meat. A little bit dry I did not like how they just served their burgers and a styrofoam tray to go not wrapped or anything and to me when you wrap it it helps moisten the bread and kind of bring all the flavors together everybody has their opinion on that I'm sure I did not try the fries because I'd already heard they were just french fries and I called them to tell them that they need to wrap their burgers when they're to go and not just waste the money sticking them in a whole styrofoam tray by itself that's just extra cost and extra money. If you're in Durant I think the burgers at the place on the side road running north and south on 75 off of University can't think of the name of it right now I think they're a much better Burger. The meat at Nick's is a lot thicker but it doesn't have much flavor boomerangs is what I'm trying to think of it is a much better Burger than next as far as I'm concerned and then once you get spoiled to move yours in Sherman then you get a ton of wonderful homemade french fries with a great burger and it equals out about $11 for a large burger and a large order of fries which is about the same as Nick's or boomerangs. I'm very picky on my food so I drive to Sherman and I'm over there for doctor's appointment so I much prefer Mooyah's to either of these places. If you're stuck in Durant and can't get anywhere else I would prefer boomerangs over next but then Nick's Burger would come in second over the rest of the places in Durant. I am just a stickler on having my hamburger wrapped up I don't like it just loose setting in a styrofoam tray to go it...
Read moreWe had the absolute honor of trying this place today. We have been watching it transition from it's unfortunate prior establishment to Nick's. We walked into the amazing smells of fresh burgers being cooked. Just the aroma was intoxicating in itself. I ordered "The Mobster" while my brother ordered "The Godfather". While his was a double mine was a triple patty. Being accustomed to fast food hamburgers, I figured a triple would be no problem. Lit me tell you. These are NOT your typical "fast food burgers". All hand pressed "Backyard Grilled" style monster burgers. My burger alone stood probably 6-8" alone. Triple meat, triple cheese, bacon, grilled onions (I did have to omit due to allergies), secret sauce and topped with a fresh fried egg. I have never had a better burger in my life. Though I was unable to finish my burger it was absolutely AMAZING. Just short of the amazing food was an amazing staff. Had the pleasure of speaking to the owner and her husband. Absolutely amazing and friendly people. Shout out to the manager Hayley. She stood and talked for a few minutes dispite as busy as they were, and was as amazing as the owners. If y'all want a down home, fresh, stick to your ribs burger then this is the place. This is a place that is gonna stick around. Thank y'all so much for making my first of MANY experiences...
Read moreIt's been about a year since I last ate at Nicks. So when the sign says lower pricing and the same owners I just tend to wonder? Granted my Chicken Fried Steak Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes and white gravy were all served to protection. But after I'm done eating I don't think I've ever been to a place where I'm tempted to ask seconds on my half of cup of green beans or seconds on my mashed potatoes and gravy. The proportion size to my chicken frie was kind of small and tempted to ask for seconds on that serving too since I paid 12.99 for good lunch. Don't think I've even gone into any resteraunt to where I paid for a good meal and still came out hungry before. Especially at a 12.99 special. At those prices for a chicken fried steak that small Nick's just may not make it. Next time if I'm not in trouble for complaining I'll try the burgers. But even at that on proportion size it's actually a 10.99 burger and frie special. Hopefully this new Nick's are compensating it's employees for tge livibg wage with proportions this small. But other that fir small size on the taste it's a 9 or a 10 + chicken frie. But you just got to ask...
