Superb atmosphere in a little maze of outdoor and indoor seating. The Wiley Fosters, an eclectic jazz band was playing as we loved the mix between pop music from the past few decades with electric and live instruments, including an Indian tabla. The outdoor space was also nice and heated with lamps, and it was nice to share tables with others. The beers were fine, a bit expensive up to $10-12 for a pint. The food truck was ok, fried pickles too salty and the veggie dumplings quite tasteless and small for $10-12.

Durham Beer Garden is the best addition to Durham in a long time. It’s so much bigger than it looks with a nice deck outback and shaded tables along the side. The service is always fast and friendly. It is clearly a labor of love for the owners. The beer selection in the cases is varied. The food is a combination of classic bar food and Asian items. Everything is delicious. Love this place. 10/10.

My new local! I debated even posting this because I want to keep it to myself! Awesome beer and drink selection at very reasonable prices. Chill vibe inside and out. There are heaters and a fire pit if it’s cold. The dedicated food truck is excellent. Pub grub and Asian offerings offer a nice if eclectic variety of choices. Staff and owners couldn’t be nicer. Service is always top notch.

Update: We went on a Monday after being regulars since they opened and it happened to be 50 cent wing night. I ordered one order of 10 wings, fries and a drink. After eating the fries and having another drink, I only finished 4 of the 10 wings. My fiance went to get a box to take the rest home and the bartender condescendingly pointed out that we were not to take them home and rudely pointed towards a sign. A few minutes later, the manager came over, gave us a box, and said "I'm going to let you get away with taking the wings this time, but you really can't complain because we are giving you such a good deal" in a condescending manner that made it seem as if he was talking down to us and that we were ludicrous for thinking that we could take home leftovers. I understand that they don't want people to take the wings to go or have people order an obscene amount, but I think it's preposterous to have such a visceral reaction to $3 worth of wings. The rest of my party all bought food and drinks and tipped well, but the restaurant still wanted to demean us over 6 chicken wings. This will make us think twice before returning which is a shame as we have been coming since they opened and have brought family members and recommended them to numerous friends. In addition, they've upped their price of their cocktails to about $15-17 each with the quality not being worth the price. I'd recommend going somewhere else with better service based on the prices they are charging.

Previous review: We went to the Durham Beer Garden for the first time yesterday and can't wait to come back! The atmosphere is awesome with murals, a beautiful bar, two great outdoor spaces, and lots of seating inside and outside. They have a great selection of beer, hard cider, hard seltzers, and non-alcoholic options. They also make cocktails: I ordered a mojito and it was one of the best that I've...

I went to this place to watch a game, and this person comes up to me and says very ARROGANTLY, I'm changing this channel to another game and you can watch your game at the bar. I ask him what do you mean, I'm the only one watching this game right here. He goes what do you mean what do I mean? Really?

Ok, so I know when you write it's tough to detect attitude, and I do not want this review to reflect anger, which I am angry.

So, I'm the only person watching my game at this TV, and I'm BLACK. I kind of feel like that matters. Instead of politely telling me what was going on, this very RUDE person DISMISSIVELY says what he says. Well it's turns out he is the owner of this place? YES! THE OWNER!

At this point I recollect myself to make sure I'm not in the twilight zone. I mean I'm a 6'4" Black man who was just made to feel very uncomfortable being the only person watching my game at this TV.

After I gathered my senses I decided to leave, and I will not be going back. If an owner of an establishment doesn't have the wherewithal to be nicer, especially in this economy and businesses are closing left or right, he doesn't deserve my business.

I'm not going to say Black people should boycott this place because I didn't see many anyway, but keep this on the radar. If even 1 person changes their mind and does not go, I'm happy about that.

He was not very nice and was QUITE...

We’ve really enjoyed the Beer Garden until tonight! We came in for drinks and decided to get some wings— we’ve come in plenty of times before and are happy to pay full price, but it was 50 cent wing night. Ordered 12 wings and 20 came out. They have a sign notifying the customer that 50 cent wings are not to go. I get it. Thought because we’d been sitting there and ordering drinks, it would be cool. On closing we started packing up the rest of our wings and the bartender just said, “Wings are not to go.” I said “What?” She said, “There’s a sign over there.” The delivery was so off. She could have been far more hospitable and I may have understood, but I work in hospitality and service and have no time to be talked down to and treated like an idiot when I have a full bar tab, and I wasn’t even coming in for your discounted food. Bad execution, bad service and bad business. I get saying to no Togo 50 cent wings for people swinging through and just trying to get a deal but we had a $42 tab I still tipped 20% on for a shocking and bad experience. We still took our wings. Sorry, y’all. Get it together ownership...
