One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a bar. I NEVER leave reviews like this but I was treated so nasty by the bartender with blue hair, and for no reason at all. I am visiting a friend from Durham (I'm from out of state) and we came to this bar from another bar. I went up with my friend to the bar to order a drink. I still had a half empty beer can in my hand from the last bar. The bartender with blue hair told me "you can't have outside drinks in here" in a very rude tone. Im from out of state so obviously I'm not familiar with local rules about this, but I said "no problem"and walked outside to wait for my friend. When I finished my drink, I went back inside to actually order a drink from the bar and the bartender with the blue hair said "we're not going to serve you. You tried to SNEAK a drink in here". I told her that I was from out of town, didn't know about the rule, and that I didn't understand why I couldn't be served if I left the bar and walked outside as soon as she told me about the rule. She said that it didn't matter that I didn't know, I wouldn't be served. I have worked in hospitality for many years and honestly have never been treated so utterly disrespectfully. I am a 30 year old woman, I didn't know the local rules, and wanted to actually spend money at this establishment...what began as a misunderstanding legitimately ended up at discrimination. I cannot believe I was turned away, I have literally NEVER been...
Read moreI'm a visitor student from Spain on Duke University. After classes I went to motoroc to eat something and go to the amazing concert of Oddisee. The change of country is hard, I miss my home and I only wanted to drink a beer and have a good time with alive music and friends. I ordered a beer with my dinner and, as is usual in america the bartender asked me for my ID (although it's obious that I'm 31). I show him my ID and my driver license. He tell me (with scorn) that he can't read in Spanish and he needs my passport. I tell him that he don't need to know spanish, that it's only a birth date. Obviously I haven't my passport with me (if I lost it I wouldn't can come back to my country easily and in two months in Durham and visiting nyc nobody had asked me for it). I had to take a Lyft to home and come back with it. The concert, as I told it was amazing, but I can't avoid to feel that all the message about racism in the concert could be apply to it's bartenders. Really I felt the discrimination in the...
Read moreGreat place to see a show. I love the intimate atmosphere. If a band comes through here you love you must go see them at this place. Drinks were really good.
Staff can be a little off putting though. I asked for a straw and instead got a lecture on how straws are evil beings that kill.
Also don't expect any class in the bathroom situation. They let guys in the girls room and vice versa without obstruction. I guess they don't want people with gender disorders to feel uncomfortable but it just creates an even more uncomfortable environment. I know my lady friends don't really appreciate drunk men walking in with them while they are doing such intimate relief activities. I personally don't like the idea of a radical feminist type walking in on me crying #metoo wolf claiming I assaulted her with my man parts cause she got a look while I was shaking out my business. So...
