I received Absolutely Terrible Service from this place‼️I usually go there for lunch at least once/twice a week and they had a new younger guy working the register this time. I had to repeat my order 3 times because it seemed he was not quite familiar with order taking or their system which was very annoying however I was very understanding of the situation because he is most likely still learning/in training and we’ve all been there before. He asked if it was “to go” or “ dine in” I told him I’ll dine in. I also let him know I would like green sauce only with the complimentary chips you get when you dine in. He then gives me my total and I pay for my order with my card and he gives me my card back with my receipt. As I was walking to my table he stops me and say “ma’am, your card.” I said excuse me? You already gave it to me. That’s not my card. Another customer sitting at the table behind me interrupts and says “Excuse me, what are you doing? that’s my card” so he apologizes to the guy and gives him his card back. So I sit for a while because it was pretty packed in there but then he brings out the complementary chips which is something completely different than what I usually receive. I told him excuse me this is not what I usually get I wanted the regular chips w/green sauce not ketchup. He looks at me confused. So I let him know it’s okay I don’t want this, I then heard him suck his teeth because he looked as if he was annoyed by me for not eating what he brought out, so he takes it & brings it back to the kitchen. My order then comes out with no napkins or cutlery like they usually give you with your food. I then walk back to the register and ask for napkins and a fork and took them back to my table. The other server I usually see when I go there brings out the actual chips and green sauce they usually give me and everyone else when dining in. I thank him for doing so. I take a bite of my taco and as I am attempting to pick up my large horchata drink I ordered and place it up to my face, my entire drink spills over my entire uniform, the table and onto the floor. At this point I’m embarrassed and also very angry because the lid of my drink was not closed properly. No one from the staff came to my rescue. They acted as if they didn’t see what just happened. I literally had to get up from my seat and go to them and point out what happened and ask for napkins to dry off my shirt and pants and wipe off my shoes. They then came over and cleaned up the mess. So I’m just there standing and waiting at the register for them to finish up. After some time the waiter comes back to the register holding the rest of drink he was about to throw away and says to me “Yes ma’am” I told him my drink was not closed properly and it spilled all over me. Are you not going to give me a new one? He literally said to me “sorry ma’am but that’s not my problem. I can charge you for a small one.” I looked at him surprised because I just paid $6+ for a large drink that I was unable to drink because the server failed to close the lid properly due to them rushing because they had a full house. I told him I didn’t even get to enjoy my drink that I paid for and he still tells me sorry but you have to pay for new one. I just turned around and walked out. I didn’t even want a refund I just wanted to enjoy my drink I paid for smh 🤦🏾♀️ They lost out on a loyal customer. I won’t ever be going back there again since they prioritize money over...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant pre-COVID on a whim, since the other longstanding go-to Mexican spots in the nearby area have been lackluster and increasingly overpriced for a while now. We had such a good experience that when COVID hit, we were worried that not enough people had found out how good this restaurant is yet to support it through these trying times for businesses. Luckily, that seems to not have been the case.
We ordered a few tacos and enchiladas, and I ordered the House Burrito, which is a mix of steak and chorizo...genius. Simply put, everything was delicious, to the point that we were honestly shocked. If you're not a die hard Mexican restaurant lover like us, then the typical Mexican joint is hit or miss and all of the food is about the same in terms of quality, quantity, and pricing. Usually in this area, you have a Tex-Mex style, food truck style, and maybe one or two fine dining or cantina style Mexican options to choose from. Mi Calvillo is an interesting mix of fine dining in terms of food quality, Tex-Mex in terms of food quantity and reasonable pricing, and Mexican Fusion in terms of sheer creativity. And although they had plenty of traditional dishes to choose from, I think the creativity in their dishes, along with the execution of that creativity and the high quality of the food, is really what wowed us. It made us both wish that our stomachs were bigger and that we could afford the calories so that we could order and try more of their dishes right there on the spot. The atmosphere on the inside is very cute, with an understated seating area / arrangement. I'm glad to see that they now have an "open" banner hanging outside, as there wasn't any sign at first. I would highly recommend trying this place for lunch, die hard Mexican food fan or not. We will...
Read moreFood poisoning! Me and my partner went to eat and when asked for my order. I said, “I’d like a steak burrito w/ cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream and cilantro.” She brings me back a burrito, but it has beans in it. When I give her back the plate, I told her I didn’t ask for beans in which she responded, “the burrito comes with beans.” ….I’m allergic to beans and I Clearly stated what I wanted on my burrito (cheese also came on the burrito, but yet I still reiterated that I wanted it so that should’ve been a tip to her). So as they’re remaking My food, she comes up to us and says “you should be careful of what you order next time because that comes out of my pocket.” Like excuse me?!?! Anyways, I ate it, but then 2-3 hours later, my stomach starts badly cramping and 30 minutes later, I throw up. Naturally, my partner did not…that food was the last thing we both ate so it would make sense that I got food poisoning from them for having to remake my food. Next time, listen to the order and not assume - that was definitely the last time I’m...
