New World Cafe Durham — Restaurant in Durham

Happy to give this place its first one-star and perhaps its first and only legitimate review. Much like the other location in Raleigh, the whole essence of this place goes against everything a coffee shop should stand for. The place is run by owners who are completely out of touch, do not care about their community members at all, belittle and abuse their staff, lie about wages and where the tips go, and are also explicitly and verifiably anti-Black. You cannot claim to love your community if you act like this. Please, if you're considering giving this place a try, take your business elsewhere to people with better morals who actually care about people and aren't just looking to make a quick and dirty profit at the expense of everyone else. Also, beware of the food safety principles here and definitely don't drink the "free" water. The overpriced muffins are also straight from BJs, as I saw the owner carrying them in one day, so there's nothing "homemade" about them. It's seriously a joke. Stay safe, buy local, and avoid this place...

New items now available like a Belgian waffle. I've heard great things about the New World Cafe in Durham, NC! It has a 4.7 star rating on Google Maps, and people seem to love the coffee, food, and atmosphere.

They have two amazing coffee roasters that they partner with, and they're currently hiring for full-time or part-time staff at both their Raleigh and Durham locations.

Their dining room is open, and they also offer take-out, curbside pick-up, and delivery.

Their hours are:

Monday - Tuesday: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm

Wednesday - Friday: 7:00 am - 8:30 pm

Saturday: 8:00 am - 8:30 pm

Sunday: 8:00 am - 8:30 pm

I'm definitely going back to check out more of the New World Cafe menu. Part of what I love...

I’ve been here like 5 times always just get a coffee right when they open and it’s been a real “eh whatever” type of experience each time. Coffee is good but it’d be nice if they just slightly upgraded the cups/containers they use. Like I went 3 times this winter and each time the coffee is spilling out from under the lid or something so obviously that’s all I’m going to remember about the experience and if that’s the case I’d rather not pay $5 for a coffee. Also leaving this review because I went this morning and got the wrong order. Regardless, giving it 4 stars because the coffee is good. Missing star is because I honestly just hate the cups that they use. Like put the homemade cold brew in a glass bottle and mark it up a dollar the current bottle looks so cheap that it really takes away from the quality of the coffee. Better cups for the hot coffee...
