Starbucks — Restaurant in Durham

On Monday, April 5 several of my Latino friends were chased off the sidewalk in front of this Starbucks by an aggressive employee who stated that Starbucks' corporate policy did not allow gatherings in front of the store. I pointed out that there was no gathering, we were just waiting for our friends who had gone into the Harris Teeter next door, and we would be leaving in a few minutes.

The employee then stated that Starbucks corporate policy prohibits protests at its stores, and that some of my friends had signs. I pointed out that the signs were not protest signs. We were just walking through the area letting people know about the Dream Act.

At this point the Starbucks employee removed the chairs nearest my Latino friends who had already left the front of the Starbucks and were now waiting in front of the Harris Teeter entrance.

I called Starbucks customer relations line, but have not received an explanation of the employee's...

I patronize this and many other Starbucks locations and have NEVER observed any "racial bias". So, you just happened to be standing in front of store with protest signs? And, if you were so peaceful and non confrontational, why did you just not leave the first time you were asked. I'm all for civil rights, but am sick of EVERYTHING being "racism". Everyone who pays attention knows that Starbucks is one of the most benevolent, charitable and equitable companies on the planet. If you were not given a "green stopper" or told "thank you" let's stop with the racist accusations and maybe chalk it up to human behavior or misbehavior and talk to management about lackluster service... just stop seeing racism everywhere. I am the regular customer to this Starbucks facility from 2015 and it used to be a pretty good but has fallen apart. The staff used to be friendly and welcoming. Now staff doesn’t even care about the customers and not welcoming at all. Today they made me waited for 10 mins due to some technical issue and haven’t even apologized for the delay, seems like they have taken as granted. I have asked some room for cream TWICE in my pike and never received a response from them, not even a nod that they have listened. The creamer counter is total mess and dirty, I know it is being under remodeling but at least once in a while they should clean it.
