I ordered carry out yesterday, having never before eaten at Tomato Jake's Pizzeria, but seeing good reviews and pictures that made me think the pizza would be tasty. And it was. We were very pleased with our pizza, calzone, and the wings. BUT, we also ordered a gluten free pizza for my downstairs neighbor who is allergic to gluten, but had issues with this being made properly. The neighbor had called in to confirm the cooking process was GF safe, and then when I ordered, I specified a GF pizza including the meat ingredients be free of gluten. However, when I went to pick up the pizza, I only learned it was made improperly (order entered incorrectly into the system) upon asking for an EXTRA confirmation. The pizza had to be remade properly, and I had an additional 20 minutes wait, while the rest of my food was ready. Had I not checked again myself, the pizza I would have brought to my neighbor would have made him very ill. This is not okay, and I am writing because staff/management need to be more careful as people who are gluten intolerant may become very ill from this kind of careless mistake. The server was more than apologetic, gave me the wrong pizza for free, and a free dessert. I am very appreciative of that, thank you. I think customers need to also be aware to double check orders if they have allergies. Second, I would request that Tomato Jake's please label the box when they give a GF pizza. Even after remaking the pizza, I found myself walking to the car not knowing from the boxes which one was GF and which was the normal pizza. Again, the pizza was great, particularly the crust, and we will be returning customers. I just ask again that you take more consideration please with those special orders to protect the health of your customers with dietary...
Read moreSummary: Good food. Disappointing portions. Quality 2/5. Here's my first issue. False advertising. Don't tell me your sub is 11", charge me at that price, and then I break out the measuring tape and prove it's only 9" like you see in the picture. I'm the kinda guy that will measure my food to see if you're keeping your promise to your customers and to ensure we the consumer, aren't being ripped off. Pasta salad side that comes with your sandwich by choice, was MAYBE half the size of my balled up fist as you can see in the pictures as well. The food was good, but the portion size soured the taste. Price 2/5: I paid $12.82 for what was supposed to be an 11" Italian sub. That was WITH a dollar tip. But what was I tipping for? Because my order obviously wasn't correct and the cashier stapled my order shut, with no napkins and no utensils to eat the pasta salad with either. And then I find that for the price you don't even get a drink either. Wow! What?! Why am I tipping when I can't get $.30 cents worth of soda included in the already bloated price of a meal? When was the last time YOU sat down at a dinner, lunch or breakfast "meal" and skipped the drink? Cleanliness 4/5: Bathroom was fairly clean for lunch hour rush. Tables were wiped down in dining area. Service 3/5: Still don't understand what I was tipping for. No utensils, no napkins, small falsely advertised sandwich and no drink. I really wanted to like this place because it's got a nice vibe and atmosphere. I was looking forward to bringing my wife here on a Friday, to sit in and grab a deep dish pizza for dinner and have a date night. But who's to know if my order would even come out at the proportions listed on their menu? Guess I'll...
Read moreMy family and I were visiting North Carolina from Florida this weekend. On 11/19/21, we decided to get Tomato Jake's Pizzeria. We got an estimated delivery time of 8:40-8:50. When we did not hear anything or get a notice...we called the restaurant at 9:11 to see what the status of the delivery was after being on hold for several minutes the Manager replied it should be outside your hotel door. We did not receive a knock or any kind of notification that the food was sitting outside our door which was explained to the Manager. So we basically had sloppy cold pizza (it was messed up inside the box), a cold calzone (had raw dough), and a cold hot sub, a salad, and some weird truffles after they reported being out of brownies after taking payment for the price of $74.00. The manager told us....well the most important thing is you got it. There was no type of customer service. Not to mention we had no utensils or plates with our food so I guess come prepared when staying in a hotel 1.5 miles from their establishment. UPDATE: The manager must also be the owner. We had 4 people in that room. There was no knock. Also we called your establishment and was very reasonable. There was no attitude on our end. Just trying to understand what was happening since we had been waiting for over 40 minutes. There was no mention of refund or preparing the food again. I have done No Contact orders from other Pizzerias and they usually knock, text, or call before leaving food which you did not. I am sorry you felt that alll of your mistakes is our fault, but your business needs to do better instead of telling people well at least you...
