Let me preface this by saying, when I was stationed in Great Lakes, my family and I ate Penn Station all the time. They had one in Grayslake and Gurnee and eating at one of these locations was a very regular occurrence.
I got stationed in Norfolk in 2014 and there isn't a Penn Station anywhere near where I live or work and we were pretty upset about it. We eventually tried the one in Midlothian, and it was pretty terrible. They didn't do a good job representing the Penn Station brand and we left disappointed.
Fast forward to 30AUG24, my wife is about to start a residency at Duke and we are in Durham looking for an apartment for her. We stumble across this Penn Station and IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!!
The food was fresh and the place was clean and operating at a level that you would expect from this fine franchise!! I wish it wasn't three hours away from where I live, but it'll just be that much nicer when I go to visit my wife on the weekends. Thank you Penn Station crew for redeeming the good name and reputation of our beloved...
Read moreIf I could give the employees 10 stars I would but as of right now I never plan on going back even though we love the food. We went today after not being in a while and my fiancee went in alone. This place is one of the worst non Handicapp/wheelchair friendly places I have ever seen. My fiancee barely was able to get in enough for the door to shut after having issues getting in through the door, had to give the employee the bank card because couldnt get to register, employee had to make our drinks and even offered to carry our order all the way to Petco where I was originally with the service dogs. I did go down there and the young man moved chairs so we could sit outside and was so very helpful but I refuse to spend my funds somewhere my fiancee is unable to be comfortable and feel like a regular customer. Disability Rights NC would have a field day in this place.... I wish business owners would take 2 seconds when starting and see things from the point of view of those who...
Read moreI had the chance to be the first customer to try the new Ghost Pepper cheese at Penn Station, and wow, what an experience! 😅 The employees warned me it was spicy, but I figured I could handle it since I have a pretty high tolerance.
The first bite? Absolutely delicious. I thought, “Hey, this isn’t too bad!” But after the second or third bite, the spiciness kicked in and hit hard. Good thing I had an ice-cold soda because I needed a sip after every bite! 🔥
It’s super tasty but definitely brings the heat. If you love spicy foods, I recommend trying it—just proceed with caution!
Also, a shoutout to Amanda (in the photo), who was so friendly and recommended this cheese when I was just going to grab Swiss. I’m glad I gave it a shot, and I’ll definitely be back for more. The staff at Penn Station made the whole experience even better!
