Remember the Amano's? Back in the day, it was like a fiesta in your mouth. You'd walk in, the smell of proper spices would hit you, and you just knew you were about to get some genuinely good, even adventurous, Mexican food. The kind your abuela would grudgingly approve of. Now? Well, I don't know what happened but the last few visits are now more like a "Tuesday. " Not even a Taco Tuesday but rather , a beige Tuesday. The last visit the highlight was probably the Mexican Coke ( far better than American coke)The tacos which used to be shatteringly crisp and served with a flavor that had a little zing, were...fine. Just sort of there. Like that one coworker who doesn't contribute much but also doesn't actively cause problems. My Carne Asada burrito was similarly underwhelming. It was large, I'll give them that. You could probably use it as a small doorstop. But the flavor inside was as exciting as watching paint dry, only the paint was a very pale shade of brown. The service was good. Our server was nice and answered questions. She did no have an attitude , but also didnt get my jokes. I will add that while the prices went up, the food quality decreased ( Maybe they have a new food supplier?) So, a solid C+ To be fair, Amano's isn't offensively bad now. It's just...meh. It's the kind of place you end up at because you can't agree on anywhere else, and nobody really cares enough to argue. It's the culinary equivalent of background noise. So, if you're looking for a meal that will transport you back to those vibrant, flavorful days of Amano's past, you might be disappointed. But if you're just looking for sustenance that won't actively offend your taste buds and you're not expecting any fireworks, then Amano's is...an option. A very, very mediocre option. Three out of five slightly wilted Agave...
Read moreNormally my favorite taco shop in the area. Tonight was a completely different experience. I ordered in advance online through their website. When I first got there they told me that they were out of chicken tamales (I ordered the 12 pack 6 chicken 6 pork). So I asked instead of waiting the 30+ minutes if I could get 12 pork. She said yes. I get home and my torta that I ordered with no onions or lettuce had onions but no black beans. My husband's tacos were supposed to be 2 chicken and 2 pastor. He got 4 of the wrong tacos. Then I checked the tamales and we got ones that were just onions and peppers. The whole order was wrong. We spent over 100 dollars and I still don't have anything to...
Read moreToday was not the best day for Amanos. While the food is good as usual, the service leaves something to be desired. The lady that took our order came off as unhappy and grumpy, and this showed further when we got home and were missing a burrito from our order. Since we didn't take a receipt I'm not sure if we paid for one or not but either way, I am disappointed with my visit and order today.
Normally Amano has great food and a great variety wether it's their burritos, tacos, or tamales. A great restaurant for Mexican food but be ready for the employees to be...
