Moved to Duvall two years ago. Was pleased to have a bakery in town. Typically our family would make our own bread however, with two children under the age of two, it is a difficult thing to accomplish. We found a couple loaves of bread and some buns that we liked enough to purchase weekly. The availability has consistently been a problem, even immediately after their daily delivery (12:30-1:30). We started calling in ahead of time to reserve our order, which generally worked when we were not put on hold. Recently we setup a recurring order to try and save time on both ends. It worked for one week...
I arrived on Friday at 1 PM and our order had not been delivered yet as the ovens were down in Seattle. I spoke with the cashier and told her I would call in to let them know when we could return to pick up the order. I phoned shortly after leaving the bakery and was put on hold for 15 minutes. They answered, asked me to hold and put the phone down. I listened while they took customer after customer and finally hung up and tried to call again. After a time of not being able to get through I left a message to have our order held so we could pick it up over the weekend. Early Sunday morning we phoned to confirm that our order was available to be picked up. I was immediately asked to hold, the phone was set down and I listened to them take multiple orders while on hold for 15 minutes. I hung up and spent the next hour trying to phone in. Once I finally got connected, I was immediately asked to hold again, at which point I said no, phone customers are customers too! I briefly explained what had happened and that all I wanted to know was if my order was ready. I was told that our order had been sold, which is why I phoned in the first place - to save us another unsuccessful trip.
This is not the only instance of poor customer service, it's been a continuous problem. It's disappointing that this is the only bakery in town. The bread is good but the customer service and product availability is some of the worst I have ever encountered. Our family will not be supporting this local...
Read moreUpdate March 1st 2019: what is up with the horrible customer service?? I came in March 1st around 2pm. A young blonde girl was at the register and I asked her what the soup of the day was. She told me in the most rude way possible. When taking my order, she acted like I was a burden and didn't ask if I wanted anything else after ordering one sandwich. She tried to tell me my total when I told her I wasn't done ordering. Anyway, she didn't smile once or tell me to have a nice day. Nothing! She looks like she hates her job and doesn't want to be there, which is an unsettling experience for the customer. And the girl that made my sandwiches with the dark curly hair, just ran out and gave them to me, she doesn't say enjoy or here are your sandwiches. Just gives them to me and walks away. What the heck guys? Isn't management teaching these girls common courtesy? They are doing the bare minimum when it comes to their jobs and I really don't look forward to coming next time and having a negative experience. I've been a grateful bread customer since they opened in Duvall but I really don't want to visit as much because of those girls. I hope to see some friendlier faces...
Read moreThere is so much potential. So little time. First let's start with their fly problem. It's not a random fly here and there. And it's also not a one-off issue. It is so bad they land on you while using the bathroom. Fortunately they now have little spinny things in their pastry case to keep them off the food, but sitting for more than a couple of minutes at a table, the flies find you--what you are eating, your napkin, your head, your plate, and they won't go away. I also feel there is very high staff turnover. Almost every time, someone new. I can actually recognize the regular customers more than their staff. The single person I do see nearly every time, probably owner (manager?), has no sense of facial recognition. Could you pretend you've seen someone before who has been in dozens of times? I mean, we're your "Buy Local" crowd. I also think sweeping under and around tables while people are still seated is kind of like screaming at your customers, "We are closing in an hour, please take your kids and leave." I like the pastries, coffee is pretty good, but I want more than a diamond...
