Sadly it's a poor experience, food was alright, nothing super now, but what steamed my carrots was that they gave themselves a tip in my bill and left my no options....
This is first time I seen such a stupid thing and hopefully last. A tip is earned for good service, it's not something that is mandatory nor should be included in a bill.
Normally I'm a very generous tipper too, I worked service and cook so I give 25 to 30 % on average.
As I was not given a choice I paid my bill and left it. I will not eat at Hogan again nor bring my family there agian.
You should NEVER force a tip, it is always for value of service, if you worried about money then provide good service and your customers will tip accordingly.
UPDATE: Been a hot minute since I visited this so I gave it another chance to see if things changed...sadly...they did not. I ordered sweet and sour pork this round, pretty decent, but the service which was an issue prior is still #1 issue here. The writers/waitresses don't bother checking on you so if you order a drink that is your only drink for the whole meal. The restaurant wasn't even busy, 3 tables with couples rest of restaurant was empty and 2 wait staff from what I saw.
I ordered a beer of my likely, when told they where out of it before I had a chance to pick another beer I was met with "what you don't like Korean beer??!!" Hostility from the waiter... the beverage I'm over paying for (7.50 for a bottle of beer) is MY (the customer) choice. I'm always open to recommendations BUT the way the staff acted was disrespectful. Honestly the waiter should have responded with "Sorry sir we are out of the beer you requested but I could intrest you in a similar beer (then list off similar beers including the Korean one or even recommend it at that point)."
After we where done eating, we needed to go and asked for take out boxes for left overs. Restaurant still not busy and wait staff chatting to each other, we waited 15 minutes before the waiter stopped chatting and brought the wrong take out container without any explanation. We where pretty upset and just left then, leaving an appropriate tip for the poor service.
If your dining in, dont bother, just order over phone and pick up, or better yet go to one of the 10 other Asian restaurants in the area.
Always disappointed to give poor reviews, but I don't want others to experience what we...
Read moreI ordered one order of Spicy wings and one order of Tuk Bok ki to go. I specifically told them no egg, no sugar, no meat. While I was picking up the food from the restaurant, I asked them again to make sure I got the right food(no meat, no sugar, no egg etc, they said big YES). For Tuk Bok Ki, they charged me 30 bucks. I was so wondering why it costs so much and asked them too, They said it costs 30 bucks. I went home after paying them 44 bucks for 6 wings and one order of Tuk Bok Ki,
As soon as I opened the lunch bag, I see two order's of Tuk Bok Ki and 6 wings. I tried a wings. It is the sweetest wing I tasted in USA. It is funny that they say it is spicy wings. I opened Tuk Bok Ki, and noticed something strange in there and called them to make sure it is not meat. They said there is no meat in it. I started earing and I could not complete even a spoon as I smelled meat.
I drove again for 20 miles to the restaurant to the left over food and askend them, what the while triangular thing is in the curry, they said it is fish. I told them I wanted food without meat in it. They said, fish is not meat. I ready got my doubts when fish is meat or vegeratian. I gave them the food and asked them to trash it and came back home. They did not even bother to offer for a refund. Their answers were rude about fish and meat thing.
I had eaten in 1000's of restaurants in my life and this is the worst food ever. I do not recommend even my enemies to eat food in this restaurant. Please go a burger place to eat better lunch. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT EVER even if this is the only restuarant left...
Read moreI went to there to try Jajjangmen. The food taste was awful, I even couldn't finish my food. All side dishes came with main course were taste really bad. It looked like Korean food but taste was definitely not Korean. Seriously, I want to give Chef or whoever cook food there.
first, you should not serve noodle with metal chopstick, jajjangmen noodle is slimy, it's really pain to pick noodle with those cheap metal chopstick, consider serving with wooden chopstick.
second, do not use instant jjajang source, when I taste the food I noticed that you used instant jjajang paste and the jajjang paste was even overcooked, taste like burned ashes. It was even taste worse than instant jjajang paste.
Third, the jjajang noddle's texture was like rubber string. That is not the noodle for jjajang. You need to research what a real Korean style Jjajang noodle is before put that thing in your menu.
Fourth, improve side dish quality, I was shock that all of side dishes are not even close to low quality Korean food, when I tasted all of it, I started to think that Chef in the restaurant is not even Korean.
Fifth, If your food quality is that low, you better tag food price down. I pay like 9.xx for the food, including tip and tex, total price was nearly $15, which means it is super expensive for the quality of the food.
I don't think i'm going back again there, but.. I just want to write review because I am really big disappointed. I just want to say that whoever considering Korean authentic food for the meal, do not go this place. you will be disappointed big time unless your...
