I would say "most" of our time at the Tavern was an enjoyable experience. Our server did a great job, a manager however, not so much. I ordered a 10oz Filet Mignon (medium rare), while my girlfriend ordered the Organic Pacific Chinook Salmon, with an appetizer of their Kung Pao Calamari. Let me begin with saying that the calamari was delicious and that she enjoyed the salmon. My steak was where we ran into an issue, both with the steak itself AND how it was handled (atrociously). Initially, from when I began eating the steak, it seemed quite a bit rarer than I had ordered. This was fine and I was willing to deal with it as the steak tasted fine and didn't appear to be TOO undercooked, beside some texture. However upon reaching the other half of the steak, I realized just how undercooked it was (not even rare), and the mistake I had made. As our server came back to ask if we wanted a box, he looked toward my plate, and immediately made a remark about how completely undercooked the steak looked and offered to take it back and prepare a fresh one (not something I asked for, but kind of him). The new steak was delivered to me by a man who was obviously a part of management, demanded I cut into the steak in front of him to see if it was "to my liking" in a openly hostile and annoyed manner (which again, whatever, maybe a bad day). I would have gotten his name and thanked him for it, if he had not immediately turned and ignored me the moment I cut into it. I do not recall the last time I was treated with such disrespect straight to my face from customer service, let alone management. At this point, we had been there so long I was already feeling somewhat sick and just wanted to be done with it. We paid the bill in full, which is fine since I received a new steak and had the lucky opportunity to go home to have a nice round of food poisoning to end the night. If not for the poor management, I imagine this review would have wound up a lot better.
Another review on here mentions a "Lorenzo" whose behavior seems similar to our experience as well, though as I did not confirm a name, I do not want to condemn someone who was innocent...
Read moreJust had a very disappointing experience, and we have gone here since it opened, I will never be back. I always order the lobster tail, baked potato and a side salad. The lobster tail is offered on the menu for $20. No where does it say on the menu that itâs only $20 IF you add it to an entree as a side. I have never had a problem before ordering this trio. Well our server who clearly seemed to be regretting her employment choices tonight came over to tell me that the âowner saw the ticket and wonât sell me the lobster tail and potato for $24 it was now $30, because I didnât order anything else to go along with itâ now we had also ordered another dinner so it wasnât like I was asking for something for nothing. And this lobster tail is a 5oz size, nothing more than a few bites at most. Now I agreed to the higher price because I didnât want to cause a scene at the restaurant and just walk out. Well, the âownerâ was scene enough for everyone there. He sat at the bar, drinking beer and talking to other people at the bar. He was loud, obnoxious and had the gall to talk loud enough for us to hear about how Chick fil A charges $11 for a salad! But yet, he over charges for a 5oz lobster tail! A hypocrite at his finest. Then his phone rang and again loud enough for everyone to hear says that his âball and chainâ was calling. The greed, disrespect and ignorance of this man was unreal. Our server handled the situation with grace and understanding. The food was just ok tonight, we have had better there before. I will defiantly not be returning if this is the type of management and ownership that is being displayed for everyone to see. Showed his lack of leadership (drinking beer at the bar) his ability to manage (making server correct the order and not be man enough to do himself) and feel he is giving his customers a fair value in their meal (over priced) and a atmosphere to enjoy ( had to listen to...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. The location, the atmosphere, the decor, clean bathrooms all excellent. Two stars. Today was our second visit during the COVID season. The first visit was just after they were allowed to open because of the COVID, all the sub-par stuff was forgiven. Got seated instantly but waited 15 min for service. There was like two tables outside and three inside that had people. All told, including us, maybe 15 people. The server came over and we ordered our drinks and food. The wife ordered the chicken sandwich without a bun, a beer and house salad. I ordered a beer, the Ruben and a Cesar salad. My little minion ordered the grilled cheese, fries and a Dr P. The drinks showed up after about 5 min... the guy said up front he forgot the Dr P. It showed up pretty quick after that. The wife and I chatted a bit and had a few sips of beer and looked at her beer and noticed a shard of glass on the rim. Upon further inspection it was cracked and shards in the glass and on the rim. Scary. Got up and took it to the bar where the bartender said he would take care of it. Apologies all over the place. A few moments later the manager delivered a fresh beer sans shards of glass. He apologized a lot too and offered to take the beer off the bill. The food showed up. Wifeâs chicken sandwich came on a bun. đ Her salad looked like it was pretty much on its last day. Surprised they even served it. My Ruben was meh. Not bad but not great, sub-average. The bill came and what do ya know, I was charged for the glass infused beer. Got up asked for the manager again. He took off all the drinks from the bill.
With the amount of people in the place, the slow service, the glass, the order being wrong, the salad being old and the bill not being what was promised, I would recommend you...
