This review is for the NEW Metztli sports bar (taqueria) over off Amity and Eagle by the new Albertsons. This is their first week in this location, so I will try to move this review to the other location once it starts showing up on Google. We have been waiting for quite some time for them to finish building this restaurant because we like Mexican food and have been anticipating going here. My Al Pastor taco truck burrito was pretty good in flavor, but it was pretty much ice cold and that was right as it was delivered to my table. Also, they haven’t dialed in the Coca-Cola fountain machine yet because the Diet Coke we ordered was horrible. It almost tasted like root beer. Now I might have gone back here again in the future, but here’s where the dealbreaker lies: The owner came over to our table while we were eating to ask us what we thought of the food, and I told him that the burrito that I ordered and the street tacos that my wife ordered were good in flavor, but they were delivered cold. I told him we were from Southern California and that we appreciated good Mexican food, but this was lacking a little bit but not bad. You would think that for $3.38 for a small street taco and $15 for the taco truck burrito he might ask if possibly he could get us another one that was hot or even offer to heat this back up in the microwave or even better yet, give us a $10 or $15 gift certificate to use next time but he did none of the above. What the heck is wrong with them doing that? You would think repeat business and word-of-mouth would be worth it, but nope. Keep looking elsewhere,...
Read moreA place a takeout order. Two orders of pork carnitas. I placed this order on a Thursday at 4:13 p.m.. I was grocery shopping at the Albertsons in the same shopping center as the restaurant. After I placed the order, the estimated wait time for the order to be completed was 12 to 15 minutes. I received a notification on my phone that the order was ready so I went over to the restaurant. The person in charge, I'm assuming the person was the manager on duty, but it could have been the owner for. All I know, told me the order wasn't quite ready but it would be ready shortly. Shortly. All of that sounded fine to me, so I sat down for a minute and waited., I asked about my order. The same gentleman seemed confused and unsure of what happened to my order. I made it pretty clear that I was not happy, and all the gentleman in charge told me was that they would hurry up and get my order ready. Earlier in my work life I was in the restaurant business and was a restaurant manager, and every single time I was faced with the situation like this I wound up comping all of or at least part of the order in the name of customer service and service recovery. The man in charge at first offered me nothing, but after about 5 more minutes went by. He asked me if I wanted a soda pop. Since I didn't order any drinks to begin with, this didn't seem like much of a concession to me. We had ordered from this restaurant a couple of times previously since they had opened, and really liked the food, but this service that we received today...
Read moreThere is a new Metzli near my house and we are badly in need of food places in this shopping center, so I WANT this business to succeed. As of now it’s pretty meh. Here are my suggestions: Put a great big OPEN sign in the window on the Eagle Rd. side. As of now the place looks dark and closed from Eagle Rd, I’ve been passing it for months. Get some booths in there, especially in the back corners that have full views of all the TV’s. There is zero comfy area for a larger group to chill, nothing but tables and loose chairs everywhere. This place is new and as of now, NOT a very “come in and chill out and drink and watch the game or hang out” vibe. The bar area is tiny, another bar should be added along the far right absolutely vacant wall. DO something with that huge empty expanse of wall. Get some kind of ambiance and hang out vibe going in there pronto. It’s so scant. I’d love to stay and chill and have a cocktail but seating is so freaking scattered and uncomfortable. Food is decent, I tried all tacos and one chicken one was served cold though. Just in my opinion suggestions on how to better the space. The girl taking orders was also SO meek and quiet and mumble mouthed, I couldn’t hear a word she was saying. I would definitely add someone more outgoing and...
