After driving by it several times in the last few weeks, finally tried this spot for the first time last night and was very pleasantly surprised! My husband and I got there about 8pm and the place was empty but clearly still open. We were greeted and served right away by a lovely young woman. She was patient as we scanned the menu for our selections, and noticed they had a substantial vegan section with a comparable option for every meat dish.
They were out of curried goat by this time, so we ordered a large stewed chicken dinner w/rice & peas and cabbage and another large jerk chicken dinner w/white rice and cabbage. Grabbed a Ting to enjoy while we waited and grooved to the rockers reggae that was playing on the speakers. Waited less than 10 min and we were on our way.
It was love at first bite. We took one look at each other and said, "YUP."
My husband (who is Jamaican and Welsh) is very picky about his West Indian spots and has been looking for a good one for a while. The food was sooooooo good! Meat was so tender it was falling apart and off the bones...the sauces and gravies were so well seasoned and savory. The portions were huge and we both had enough leftovers to save for the next day, even after we shared some of our meals with each other.
Definitely will be going back and making this a regular takeout option. Need to get there earlier to get the goat, and next time Im getting dessert lol.
I really hope they stick around for a while.
TLDR; pleasant and prompt service, absolutely delicious food, large portions good value for money, get there early in the day because they run...

Read moreWent to Hot Roostah chicken Thursday with my daughter. The service is very quick and kind. I'm pretty sure it's family owned. The dad and mom made me and my daughter's food, and the daughter checked us out at the counter they were all humble people. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming. The food was amazing. I got 3 beef patties, 1 spicy, and 2 regular. The spicy one was good. I could've used a little more spice, but that's my preference. Everybody else has their own opinion. Overall texture, wise, and the way the beef patties were made, you can definitely tell it was homemade. It was definitely delicious. The oxtail with the steamed cabbage and the rice beans was phenomenal. Oxtail was definitely tender falling right off the bone, and they definitely gave me a decent amount of gravy from the oxtail. Overall, I'll definitely come back. I can't wait to try the stew chicken and jerk chicken. Keep the good work up, guys, and blessed to have the experience we had godbless and...
