Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in East Lansing

Very disappointed with service my husband and I received on Thursday. We stopped in for a smoothie, ordered the same thing and then watched the employee prepare our smoothies in one blender. The employee went to help the next customers, and we waited and watched for 10 minutes while another employee continued preparing an online order instead of pouring our smoothies into cups so we could be on our way.

I realized one of the employees was new and still training so my impatience melted away, until the employee training her poured our blender into cups and realized there was not enough to fill both. The trainer then proceeded to instruct the trainee, "if there ever isn't enough, just add more ice" and began to dump one cup back into the blender and add two scoops of ice. This made for one great tasting smoothie and one thick and watered down smoothie. All in all, our quick smoothie we thought we would enjoy, ended up taking 20 minutes in total and...

AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! We ordered from Uber Eats and our driver forgot to bring us our smoothies - just brought the other food. We tried contacting him but he did not answer his phone. We then contacted Tropical Smoothie to find out whether the driver had picked up the smoothies but not left them at our house, or if he never picked them up. They told us that he never picked them up and I asked if there was any way they could deliver them now. They said unfortunately they could not but then they offered to let us reorder delivery directly from them (I would have done this from the beginning if I knew i could!) and reimburse us for the smoothies!!! It was not even their mistake!!! A million stars for this location and their manager whose name I did not catch. Thank you...

It's a larger location than its counterpart near MSU, but it's also far louder, which makes hearing your name difficult as employees call it out to the store in general. If there's a line for ordering, there's the potential to block foot traffic, since the tables closest to the ordering counter are just a few feet away. There's a "bar" area surrounding the area where employees prepare your smoothies, but it puzzles me that folks would elect to sit so close to loud blenders that are constantly firing, and the fact that most people are just here to enjoy a smoothie means there's not much reason to try and establish a bar dynamic.
