It's alright... Used to be better, I must've been eating here occasionally for 10 years now. Wish they reignite their passion and hire better staff.
I'm convinced this place stays open purely because of their marketing efforts and the fact that there are no better options in the immediate area.
I give them a go maybe once a year and the last several times was disappointed. The food is good, nothing special but not terrible either. The quality of ingredients always concerns me. Last time they gave me the most brown avocado I've seen in my life, that avocado has had a good life, got married, had kids, sent them to college, retired and decided to jump into my shrimp tempura roll, Christ it was brown and gross (see picture) that brown crud is an "avocado" that's supposed to be yellow and green not brown and black.
The whole place has a vibe to it that the owner is squeezing pennies out every chance he/she gets or they stopped carrying and the restaurant machine continues on without their effort. Yet the marketing is fantastic! You hear about Taos on the radio and local cross-promotion deals.
They gave another customer my sushi, which I get it, it happens. But I still had to wait 10 minutes or so for a fresh batch. The menu has 2 Appetizers section, and 2 soup sections, which seems confusing. Maybe one is lunch and one is dinner?
I truly believe this place can do better, they just need to relight their passion.
Overall give them a go and decide...
Read moreI am disappointed to say that we were very underwhelmed by our take out dinner on Saturday night. I give them credit for it being ready quickly, but that's pretty much the high point. It only took me less than 10 minutes to get home with the food, so that's not the problem. I'll go through the meal in detail.
First, I had wonton soup. The broth was pretty basic, not much flavor, and the wontons were overcooked. It wasn't horrible, but not very good. Then we had both egg rolls and boneless ribs. The egg roll wasn't crispy, and the filling was just ok. The duck sauce provided was pretty close to tasteless, very disappointing. No mustard was provided. The ribs were barely warm, kind of chewy and lacking in flavor.
My wife had the chicken Pad Thai which she said was also pretty tasteless. I had a piece of the chicken, which was well cooked, but didn't have much of a Pad Thai flavor. I had the house special Chow Fun. It was actually pretty good - the noodles were properly cooked and it had good flavor; it was the best dish in the meal.
I was really hoping to find a good place for Chinese takeout in Longmeadow; I guess we'll have to...
Read moreMy daughter and 3 friends went here for dinner. My daughter has a gluten allergy and made the waitress very aware. She ordered and the crab roll which came out fried with a coating on it. She told the waitress who then became very rude to her. Saying all those rolls were tempura and she should have known that even if it wasn’t stated. The manager came over and was also rude. They did offer her to select something else but at this point she was too nervous it would not be right. I called to discuss with the manager and he was SO rude to me. I told him I would be writing the review and he laughed and basically hung up the phone. Never should customers be treated this way. For that reasons I and you should never eat at this establishment. There are many better places like Iron Chef and Umis on Longmeadow. If I could have given 1 star...
