SUMMARY:
This was their last reply to me on their messaging service: "God bless you and please do us a favor and stay away, no one likes to deal with a petty customer, God bless"
I don't believe I was being petty. Because of my own mistakes and expressing myself as a customer by asking for some clarification, not even asking for my money back, but giving them 5 stars.... I was still treated this way by their management.
I am only able to submit post if I choose a star but it should be no stars.
FULL REVIEW: I've been coming to La Azteca for their burritos and this weekend we came to try their tacos. We love tacos dorados (hard shell) but they don't sell hard shell tacos or nachos. So don't come here if you are looking for hard shell tacos or nachos.
We ordered the soft shell tacos. You can choose corn or flour. We ordered corn tacos.
Now, on their menu board I thought it said "Four Tacos Come with Refried Beans". The print is small. But I see now in the photos after enlarging the photo that someone posted here and on their website that it says "Flour Tacos Come with Refried Beans".
SO, I was confused. I ordered four corn tortillas tacos and I accidentally ordered a side of large refried beans which cost extra. I had no idea but I paid for it anyways. The kid who was working the counter was mumbling and I couldn't hear him when he asked me about the side of beans. I also didn't check my receipt so we ate our tacos with a side of large refried beans. I think he should have told me it costs $9.50 extra. Although, some people may say that's not his responsibility.
When I got my survey from my digital receipt, I gave them all 5 stars and mentioned how I was confused and how the kid wasn't clear on telling me the prices. I wasn't asking for my money back.
I also wasn't expecting a rude reply from whoever it was answering the surveys. Either it was the owner, manager, or staff member, it made me feel sick that I didn't want to eat my leftovers. At first they were nice and apologized. This is what they said "Hello, the flour tacos all come with beans, the corn do not, but you can add beans to the tacos for .50 cents .. the menu sign next to the taco menu is a miscellaneous menu that include beans salsa tortillas chicharron and carnitas, their prices are listed. I Apologize for the confusion you can refrigerate or freeze the beans if you didn’t consume all of it and enjoy it in the future with your favorite dish."
I was only looking at the taco side not the miscellaneous side. I also admit that I thought it was four tacos. I even said to the kid "four tacos come with refried beans?" and he said yes. Maybe we both didn't know what we both were saying! So much confusion.
But according to their reply, the kid also didn't tell me about $0.50 extra to add to the tacos. So, he assumed I was ordering a side or just decided to up sell it to me. I don't know.
I have learned my lesson to look at all the prices and ask detailed and clear questions at the counter. I am a nice person and I didn't want to take up their time because it was so busy, so I was timid and just paid for everything. We had a nice day in church that morning and everything was so good that day and we looked forward to having lunch here.

I asked if the chile relleno burrito was a vegetarian option and was informed that it was. After being told yes without question placed my (order 5 burritos) $43.50 order for me and 4 friends. Being busy I didn't think too much about anything but eating my lunch before I flew out the door of our lunch in. Today I felt a bit off, so I called to confirm what was in the beans. Upon asking, and to my surprise, the beans and tortillas are made with manteca; LARD!. Although upset and still trying to be understanding, I thought that I should inform the manager what had happened. And again, to my surprise LA AZTECA TORTILLERIA lets me down. According to management, asking if something is a vegetarian option is not the same as asking if there are any dead animals in your food. Still, being the retired food industry worker with 10 plus years in the food industry I tried to explain that once someone states they are Vegan, Vegetarian, the patron is putting faith into the food service worker to do their job in making sure they are receiving something Vegan or Vegetarian. But, the manager insisted I was to blame and should be more aware of how to order my food. That's when I knew it was worthless trying to explain anything to this man. I can understand a person making a mistake and using it as a learning experience to grow in their professional endeavors, but I will not allow someone telling me it's my fault for not checking/asking if my Vegetarian option had lard in...

Everything is just as good there, but if this location is closed, I can go to the second location cuz they would be open on days that this location isn't. I still prefer this location because it's closer.
I love this place! The only problem I have is that they close so early at 4pm! I was introduced to this spot about a year ago by my sis because she knows how much I LOVE chile rellenos, and man, all the rave reviews are not lying one bit! I've been dying to come back since my sis brought me, but it's either I forgot the name or they're closed already. So many times I wana stop by after work to grab a burrito for dinner, but I'm off at 5, so they're already closed. 😭
I finally had the chance to stop by on Saturday morning to get an iced cafe de olla, chile relleno asada burrito, and a half lb of chicharrones before going to the car wash, and everything was amazing as ever. The carne asada was so tender and flavorful, the chile relleno was delicious, and all of it together in the burrito was to die for. The cafe de olla did not disappoint, and the chicharrones were perfectly crispy with just the right amount of tasty flavor from the little meat and fat left on it.
The employees I've had encounters with every time are always nice, helpful when I have questions, and they're as quick as they can be. Parking is very limited, so you're lucky if you can swoop up on a spot out in front when you arrive. I usually have to park down the street, about a block away, but it's worth the extra...
