Called in a take-out order and arranged to have it ready an hour in advance: they said no problem. I ordered half a roast chicken (con papas), lomo saltado, and a chicha morada. I arrive a little early and they're just finishing up. Perfect. Get the food and climb into the car and the first thing that hits me is the overwhelming delicious smell coming out of the bag. The first sip of chicha morada transported me about four thousand miles south. Mmmmm! Get home and start ripping open cartons: everything was godamn delicious! I've eaten a few dozen lomo saltado plates in the last couple years (mostly in northern Peru, but also several in L.A.) and usually (like 90% of the time) the first thing you have to get over is the not-that-good beef. Kinda overcooked is the norm for some reason. (Or I just had really bad luck.) But this was tender*, not overcooked and not undercooked. I'll definitely be back for the lomo saltado! Everything else was on point too: the rice and the fries soaking up all the sauce and meat juice... The chicken was kinda different: really herby and smoky at the same time, (and also delicious). Kind of intensely herby and smokey.... new to my tastebuds, but it grew on me quickly. Oh, when I got home, stepping out of the car, I immediately spilled the rest of the chicha morada. BAH!!! I was so mad for a second. Ha ha! Yeah, I'll be back.
I'm eating the leftovers drinking a Cusqueña (thank you...
Read moreIf you like flavorful roasted chicken this is a good spot. I order the 1/4 rotisserie chicken. It came with a salad and fries. The chicken was juicy and full of flavor. Not too familiar with the Peruvian cuisine but thought i tasted oregano as a part of the delicious seasoning. The skin was roasted almost crispy and tasty. It was likely marinated in a brine solution as the meat was juicy and well seasoned. The fries were well seasoned as well. The salad was run of the mill with regular iceburg lettuce, slice of tomatoe, grated carrots and drizzled with a mayo based dressing that contained oregano. The real star of this dish was the chicken. The visit to this establishment was based off a friends recommendation. The cashier/server was very friendly and helpful in making suggestions if you need guidance. Apparently, there are other Peruvian restaurants that are part of the family of Las Brasas. This one had its name changed (don't recall previous name). The menu has also changed. They have one restaurant in Alhambra as well, which has more seafood selection. They have gone to great lengths to provide a safe dining experience and have erected plexiglas surrounding tables for when the terrible governor removes the random restrictions on the poor restaurants and...
Read more"I recently visited Las Brasas Peruvian Fusion and had mixed feelings about my experience. While the quality of the meats was not that great, the taste of the food was absolutely superb! We tried the Chicha Morada, 1/2 Pollo a la Brasa, Salchipapas, Tajarin Saltado, and Arroz Chaufa con Carne, and each dish was bursting with flavor. The portions were also reasonable, which is always appreciated.
However, the service left a lot to be desired. No water was offered during our meal, and very few napkins were provided despite dining in. At one point, we had to interrupt our meal, get up, and walk over to the waitress to request additional napkins and aji verde, instead of her coming to us. This level of service was quite inconvenient.
Lastly, be aware of the mandatory service fee that includes a 15% gratuity. Given the lack of attention to service, this charge felt undeserved. While the food is worth a try, be prepared for some challenges with the overall dining...
