McDonald's — Restaurant in East Los Angeles

The cashier never specified which window. I pulled up to the first window. There was an employee mopping. He didn't look up at me so I drove to the next window labeled "pick up 1". The employee at the window was talking to his coworker with his back turned to us. He opened the window but still had his back turned to us. Even after his coworker left his back was turned to us with the window wide open. So, I pulled up to the last window. After driving to the final drive up window I look in my rear view and see the cashier service the car behind me. He was supposed to service me but instead had his back turned talking to someone else. I was at the third window waiting for 3-4 minutes before honking my horn numerous times and knocking on the window. Multiple vehicles behind me got their food while I was waiting to pay for mine because it seemed like no one wanted to service me. Finally, an employee walks up to the window and asked me did I need something. I responded, "Yes, to pay for and get my food". They made me recite my order and said I was supposed to pay at the second window. I told her I was at the second window but wasn't serviced because the employee was too busy talking with his back turned to me. Horrible service....

I went during lunch time (12pm) and I ordered 2 - 6 piece chicken mcnugget happy meals with double fries and upgrade to large coke and large sweet tea. Well, after I paid, I moved to the second window and was given one large sweet tea and one medium coke. I informed the drive thru employee that I had requested a large sweet tea and large coke to which he responded with, "they put a MEDIUM coke." He could have easily offered to give me what I ordered, a large coke, but no...the topic was closed. Then he gave me two bags and that was it. I checked one bag as I drove away, and there was 2- 6 piece chicken nuggets and a small order of fries. The other bag had two large French fries. As I looked again in both bags I noticed...even though the receipt showed 2 toys...there were no toys in the bags. Very unhappy with this McDonalds. First, they dont hear the orders correctly (Perhaps because of the freeway noise ...they should invest in a cement wall surrounding the whole restaurant...in order to block out the freeway noise)...and second, they give me no toys when I purchased 2...

This is quite the unique McDonald's. Almost 50 years old, built on a slope, they have done some interesting things to retrofit a drive through, including an automated, elevated track to transport hot, customer ready bagged food from the kitchen to the drive through pick up window that is 80 feet away and down one floor. If you go inside you can see it working behind it's glass enclosure.

The interior layout is also unique- as many were in that era. The seating area is expansive and it actually has a pretty good view. I know, right?

My hashed browns weren't really as hot and fresh as I prefer them to be, but I didn't send them back. Same with the Sausage McMuffin with egg I had. The food was mediocre but the service was excellent.

Which is to say the food was fine. It's McDonalds. The worst it can ever get is "It's fine".
