Just a little feedback for the Kennett Square Two Stones Pub.
The Food? Well it is excellent. Simple selections that are tasty and nicely prepared and presented. Mushroom soup is great. Burgers are delicious.
The Beer selections? Very good and guest taps are usually excellent. Recently, the only muggable selections have been the 2SP beers. They are not bad, they are just not as good as some of the previous taps that they would allow a mug. Being a Mug Club Member for 3 years, I noticed it changed earlier in the year. The MUG Club is no longer worth the cost if the choices are limited to 2SP only because 22 ounces is a lot of one-brewer beer.
Service? Um, Below Average to Terrible. It seems that many of the wait staff could care less if I am there. They do not interact or show friendliness, they move slowly, they would rather clean a table then ask for your drink choice. Really poor service; they rarely smile.
Customer Focus? Worse than the service. On two occasions I saw the manager arguing with a customer. Once, okay it is an aberration But twice, there is an issue. And I thought I heard the bartender tell a customer they don'y need the business. I do not subscribe that the customer is always right. But I do subscribe to that you don't tell the customer, and others in ear shot, you are not valued.
This was my go-to place every Thursday for a few beers and some dinner with at least one and sometimes three other people. It was a nice respite from the daily grind and i liked the vibe. However, things have changed and it started to change last January. Now that they have reopened, they seem bitter; limited staff, limited customers, and staff that seem to not care; a change is in order.
Kennett has some great alternatives to 2SP.
Braeloch Brewing. Really good food like 2SP just not a big selection. Tasty beer. The Brealoch Beer overall is better than 2SP beer. However, some of the guest taps at 2SP are better than Braeloch. The biggest plus at Braeloch, the atmosphere, the environment, the staff. It is just a great wide open space to hang out and have a little food and a little beer inside or out. Call them up and ask them a question, they and answer and they invite you over to enjoy a beverage. They want you to experience Braeloch.
The Creamery. All really good beer selections. Some axe throwing too. Simple bar food. Great bands when they have them. Great vibe. A nicely mixed crowd. Great staff. Eat and have a beer at Braeloch, then wander the 100 yards to the Creamery and enjoy some music and a beer. Then wind down a little back at Braeloch.
Kennett Brewing Company. A few great beers...just a few. But a fun place to go and a reasonable menu. Good music too when they have it and bit loud near the stage. I like sitting outside in the middle of town. Very nice.
The bottom line, you can buy any beer you want a Spaziani's (Wayward Beverage), cans, bottles, growlers, crowlers, etc.; a terrific selection and great employees. Then drink at home or go to a BYOB. Or better yet, go to a brew pub and enjoy their brews. The staff at any place makes it or breaks it for the consumer. Taking the customer for granted is a thing of the past for most businesses.
All this aid, Two Stones in Jennersville has a much friendlier (and peppier) customer focused staff. I don't know why...they just do. I like their brunch and usually meet friend there on Sunday. Just a nicer vibe.
By the way, the Hearth Kitchen is next door to Kennett 2SP. They are a little pricey and have good food and good service. They almost worry that they are not doing enough for the customer. Anyway, they have a young man playing a guitar outside on the weekend nights. They are giving a little bit back into the...
Read moreStopped for a quick bite and a drink on a Tuesday at 2:30. The bartender was not very welcoming and seemed a bit annoyed when we tried to flag her down to order. I noticed she was constantly “fixing” her appearance instead of paying attention to the three customers she had. She placed her sneaker on the sink/bar/ice area to tie it and then I witnessed her using a bar rag to wipe her legs down, hands and place it for use later on. She didn’t wash her hands after wiping her legs right in front of us while drinking and eating. I was seriously grossed out. Unfortunately I felt a little uncomfortable how she seemed annoyed or bothered when we wanted something and she barely spoke two words to us.
We ordered the mussels which I was thoroughly disappointed in. They were so tiny to pick at, barely the size of a dime and not worth the bother. I usually love their sauce/broth to dip bread but it was thick and barely any to really enjoy. 2SP used to be better.. I have been here on and off the years and unfortunately I was really disappointed (and grossed out) that our bartender cared more about attending to her personal hygiene at the bar than trying to check her customers. When we asked for the check, she delivered it without a word, took our card without a word and didn’t even acknowledge we were leaving. Definitely weird...
Read moreThis was the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time, and I will not be returning. We should have known something was off when the place was nearly empty on a Saturday night during peak dinner hours.
All four meals came out at completely different times. One person was nearly finished before the second and third meals arrived, and the fourth came even later. The waitress first offered excuses that didn’t add up; only when pressed did she admit she had forgotten part of the order. Mistakes happen, but there was no effort to make it right—no comp, no real apology beyond “I had a long day.” She also never checked back during the meal, even though we clearly needed drink refills.
The food was no better. Two of us ordered $15 “large” salads that were insultingly small, with ingredients worth maybe a dollar. I added shrimp for $6 and got six tiny, overcooked pieces with no flavor. At a decent place, that would have been a filling meal; here I went home hungry and ate again.
I’m usually a generous, understanding reviewer (see my other reviews), but I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant.
Avoid this place: poor service, poor...
