As a regular patron of Comedy Connection I can truly say that it is an amazing establishment. They have incredibly affordable ticket prices and some very popular acts that I would usually expect to pay a lot more to see at an arena show, but instead get to sit close to the stage for a more meaningful interaction and memorable show. Hurry up and get the tickets for your favorite comics though, because they sell out fast. Also get there kind of early, especially with popular comics (at least if you want to sit up close and possibly interact with the comic), because the place fills up FAST some nights. I love the fact that there is a place in central Rhode Island that you can not only get a LA/NY comedy club styled show, but also that it is prominent enough to pull great talent and still be priced affordably. If not for Comedy Connection we would all be stuck commuting to Boston or paying high dollar prices for local theater venues in Newport. I will say that I debated for a bit on whether or not to give it 4 or 5 stars however. That’s solely due to the fact that they no longer have a kitchen that serves anything other than what is essentially airline snacks and drinks, maybe as far as movie theater although I believe their popcorn isn’t even made in house. With that being said my friends and I have been able to turn the negative into a positive by making sure to incorporate local dining and cuisine in with our night out for comedy. We have found some excellent restaurants and had lots of fun by eating either before or after, and given that it did not take away but in fact added to the positive experience I elected to give 5 stars after all. Although I would like to see some actual food and/or a somewhat functional kitchen return to Comedy Connection as a matter of convenience on nights we have less time to go out, we have managed to find plenty of joy frequenting the establishment without it and will continue to do so regardless. If you are in town, or even in the state, check out the talent performing while you are here, and if you can find a show that isn’t sold out then I would absolutely recommend if not insist that you should absolutely stop by here as a must see for RI, you won’t regret it, just make sure you make dinner plans separately either before or after 😅. Hope you all have a laugh and...
Read moreWe came tonight in a group of 8 to see one of our favorite comedians. The show appeared sold out and all tables were full. From the time the show started at 7pm, a couple behind us were very drunk and disruptive. They consistently spoke over the comedians and heckled them during their act. My party asked them nicely to stop interrupting and speaking during the show. A little later another party asked them to stop talking... The security guard came over multiple times to give warnings, but did not take any actions to remove them. A little later into the show another party screamed at them multiple times and got security twice. They were allowed to stay until they paid their bill after 8pm.... So everyone around them essentially got to enjoy 30 minutes of the show afterwards. We alerted the manager after the show of what had transpired and she was immediately extremely unprofessional and condescending. We nicely explained the situation without initially asking for anything, and she rudely told us that if we had a problem with it we should have left the show or asked to move seats. Mind you, the show was at capacity and we were a party of eight. We should have walked out during the show that we paid to see if we had a problem with the unruly guests behind us? How about remove people who are clearly violating the rules and don't over serve them alcohol...Truthfully, the female, middle- aged blonde manager's behavior and attitude was more shocking than the unruly guests. I asked if I could possible come back to at least be able to hear another show and I was looked at with disgust. She even went as far to accuse me of thinking someone should be kicked out just because “I say so.” Mind you, another party lost their cool and yelled at these people, so for her to try to invalidate my experience without even witnessing what happened was way out of line. Her yelling at us and not having any sympathy for our experience was the last thing we needed after a tough situation. Not sure how she managed to wind up in a customer facing role, but her behavior was uncalled for and we certainly feel unwelcome to return after the encounter....
Read moreThe Comedy Connection in East Providence Rhode Island is 18+ and proper identification is required to enter as the door staff will ask everyone. There is plenty of free parking either out front or around the corner from the club on Potter Street since the city recently completed a specific parking lot within walking distance and right to the front door. It’s always a great adult night out. The last show we saw was Brian Beaudoin a couple of months back and you always get to see several comedians on stage making everyone laugh weather it’s the host of the night or the openers they are all unique, funny, and engaging. It’s also an affordable night out and we always look ahead on their event schedule to see who’s coming and purchase tickets online ahead of time. There is no need to print the tickets out since you can simply show them to the door person from your phone. They feature everyone from local and newer comedians to nationally known names. It’s located in a quaint 1930’s bank building and they have been open for over 30 years now. The venue seats 240 people and they have long thin black tables and chairs and the ushers just seat people as they arrive and based on what makes sense for the amount of people you are with. The seating setup ensures everyone will have a good view of the stage no matter where you’re seated. They also offer cocktails and a few snack options and it can all be ordered by scanning the QR code provided at the table or with a server as they make their way around the club. It’s always nice to look around and see everyone in the club laughing and smiling and taking some time to enjoy life...
