Nice park on the banks of the Seekonk River with sprawling, open fields, basketball courts, baseball fields, a community garden, and is right along a bike path. This park is great for a picnic or a pickup game of football or soccer. There are also some great views of the old Crook Point Bascule Bridge, a local landmark that may soon be refurbished into a LED art display.
While the lack of a playground makes it less attractive to those with kids, there is a nice, small playground a couple blocks away. Right across the street is Roger Williams Square, with a monument dedicated to his arrival in Narragansett land and his meeting with the tribe sachems which ended in them granting him the land that became Providence. So even if Gano Park itself doesn’t have what you’re looking for in a visit to a park, you can likely find somewhere...
