Arrived at Waffle House about 9pm on October 17. There were 1 cook and 3 wait staff. Upon arrival, the staff were busy talking to one another, so no one greeted us. We ended up sitting in a booth. A couple of customers were checking out. We didn’t understand why it took all 3 of the wait staff to check out the 2 men because 10 minutes passed, and no one came to our table. After the men left, no wait staff approached us. We still waited. When 3 women arrived, one waitress approached them immediately explaining they could not fill any orders since their 3rd shift cook did not arrive. Why were those women approached before they even sat down? We have compassion for short staffed businesses. The issue for this instance is never being addressed until after 3 women arrived and we overheard why we couldn’t order. Why did it take 10 minutes and other customers to find out we would not be served? My husband asked if we were going to be notified, and the waitress said she was coming over to tell us. Oddly, we actually overheard her talking to the new arrivals. She didn’t really tell us because we sat there for 10 minutes waiting to be acknowledged by one of the 3 waitresses. Just one. Due to Covid, we’ve encountered many instances where restaurants were short-staffed. We’re retired, so we have nothing but time. We also tip well for the hard workers who do come to work. Due to this experience, we made multiple attempts to contact corporate about this. I’d like it noted we were the only couple of color in the establishment. We did not feel ignored until the 3 white women arrived. At first, we didn’t understand why we weren’t acknowledged. Our Perspective: We felt dismissed due to our race. If you knew us, this is not how we expected to be treated. We prefer to leaving glowing reviews. I was disappointed because I wanted my husband to try Waffle House because he’d never eaten there. First impressions mean a lot. Now, he wants nothing to do with trying Waffle House. I would leave zero stars, but I marked one because there’s no...
Read moreI am giving this waffle house only 2 stars just because of how unbelievably unprepair they were yesterday. Our server was great it has nothing to do with her. She did the best she could but how does a breakfast place in the south possible run out of white gravy for biscuits. I was with my mother and we both order our breakfast which was great I am new to the waffle house experience. Just moving to Tennessee from California where to my knowledge doesn't have waffle houses. At least not where I lived my whole life. We were served most of our breakfast but we were told they were working on the biscuits and gravy. We asked multiple times about my mom's biscuits and gravy and we were in no means I'm a hurry. Me and my mom were just enjoying our time out together and told them that but after finishing all of both of our breakfast and my coffee after about maybe 40 minutes we had to tell them to just take off the biscuits and gravy we had to go. They were very apologetic off the whole things not complaining about the customer service at all but if they weren't prepaid to serve biscuits and gravy it would have been nice to know ahead of time that way my mom could have just ordered the hashbrowns like she originally planned to and after waiting 15 or so minutes it would have been nice if they would have said it would be awhile and someone would have asked my mom if she would like something else instead. It was a little ridiculous for them to just keep saying they were working on it. They should know how long it takes to prepare they gravy. I am sure they have made it enough by know and making your customers wait 40 or so minutes for their food is kind of unacceptable. On the positive side the food is good I am impressed by the waffles. I am usually a pancake girl but i definitely will through a waffle in...
Read moreI had previously talked about the reason why I loved this particular Waffle House simply because the staff was great. What I mean is, the food is ok. It's Waffle House food. Basically, late night diner food that comes along with an unruly bar crowd. The thing that made it stand out from the rest was the service. But that was then, this is now. And now is no better than some of the other spots that judge you by what you look like when you walk in the door. When I arrived, I was grabbing a quick bite before I left for a funeral out of town. I had a bag and a backpack and really just wanted some food that didn't cost a weeks pay like I would find at the airport. I was (kinda) greeted when I walked in by a server that looked at me like I was a cast member from the walking dead. She acted like she didn't understand me when I said I wanted to eat and not take out. She asked what I wanted and I ordered a waffle and a water for the time being. I was planning to get some coffee and maybe some eggs and grits, but her attitude quickly killed that idea. Then she walked over to another guest smiling and laughing, ruling out that she was just having a bad night. Now maybe it was because she had never waited on me before, but isn't that when you should be at your best? Especially when a portion of your pay depends on it. Maybe the next time, if there is one, will be enough to change my review, but until then, enjoy these 2 stars and a tip that reflects the service I received. I'm not recommending this location. The one on Brainerd Rd is smaller, older and the clientele can be "interesting" at times, but they treat you like who you are....A...
