Salsa King Restaurant — Restaurant in East Stroudsburg

I stopped at Salsa King with my girlfriend last night after noticing it on our way to dinner at another restaurant. We actually made a u-turn to try Salsa King. With our luck, while making the u-turn, we saw a deer that had been hit by a car and was alive and suffering. Once we called the authorities for help, we decided to get food to go fron Salsa King rather than sit and eat.

When we approached the restaurant, I was still visibly upset about the deer. A few employees from Salsa King were standing outside, and while a male seemed kind/concerned for us, a woman stared at me like I had 5 heads and had the rudest expression on her face as we explained what we just witnessed. That isn't the type of attitude an employee should have with a customer. As we walked into the restaurant, I heard the woman outside say "mentiro" ...which means "lie" in English (some of your customers can understand Spanish!) Really? What did we have to gain? We were heartbroken for a suffering animal, asked for nothing but a menu, paid and tipped 25% on a to-go order. But thanks for being judgmental, lady.

As far as the restaurant itself: absolutely gorgeous inside and very clean. I had stewed chicken, red beans, and yellow rice. The chicken had a really nice flavor although not much meat on the bones. The rice didn't disappoint either. What I really wanted to note though- was the compassion the woman behind the counter had. She took her time and explained the food on display to us, had a smile on her face, and said she wished for me to have a better night. That's customer service!

I'll give 3 stars because the sweet lady at the register redeemed the place, and the flavor of the food was good. But I don't like being called a liar. 😏

Came here due to the high reviews. I also been to Dominican Republic many times, so I’m familiar with the food. So decided to give this place a try. 🦋 loved the ambience & atmosphere. The decor was amazing. There’s two different styles of rooms. One was very floral and with windows. The other more like recording room. Loved that. 🦋 they have Live music nights 🦋 got the sangria to start (it’s good, just tasted like mostly juice). 🦋 bread for table. Fresh bread with either melted butter or oil. 🦋 got 2 empanadas to start. One was cheese. The other was cheese with chicken. No sauce came with them. (Usually with empanadas there’s 2 different sauces. I had to ask for a sauce… after waiting a while, the waiter brought like a ketchup mixed with mayonnaise sauce…I was hoping for the green sauce. ) 🦋 my partner got the oxtail. It was mostly fat and it was so unflavored. Also the waiter completely forgot to bring us the beans included with the dish. 🦋I got the cheese mafungo (I asked the waiter if he can put garlic sauce on the side…turned out it was drenched in garlic butter (which was a complete charge$ of its own). The place was absolutely beautiful and is what attracted my husband and I BUT I can’t taste the decorations. The food was very mid. The bread we were served was hard and rock solid. I got the empanadas and it came with no sauce… the name of the restaurant is SALSA KING! I’m expecting world famous salsa lol! What do you mean no sauce?! Who eats dry empanadas… lol. Anyways, I also ordered the rice and beef, suppppper oily oh my oh my. My husbands food was alright, also mid, chicken and peppers, rice and beans but it didn’t taste restaurant spectacular, it tasted like your moms food on a very tired day where she prioritized you eating … not taste. When I go to a restaurant I expect to be wowed! Especially with the name and prices of this restaurant. I think they need to step up their game because the name and place seemed...
