A Go-To Chinese Eatery in the Philly Suburbs!

After jogging at the park, we stopped for lunch and the food was so good I finished everything. The owner, Lily, specializes in seasonal vegetables and authentic Guangdong 廣東 dishes you won’t find at most Chinese restaurants, though Americanized options are still available. We tried sautéed loofah with garlic (fresh and sweet), Chopped Chili Noodles (spicy, fragrant, and light), and Five Willow Fried Egg (a rare sweet-and-sour egg dish made with five vegetables). She also shared her homemade chili sauce, which was flavorful and perfectly spicy. The food was healthy, not oily, and felt like homemade comfort dishes. The hot green tea paired nicely, and Lily’s recommendations were spot-on. Definitely worth trying!

After years of being a foodie, Lily has finally opened her own restaurant. Today, we had the pleasure of tasting some of her signature Cantonese dishes, including Salted Fish and Eggplant Casserole (咸鱼茄子煲) and Soy Milk with Fried Dough Sticks (豆浆油条). The eggplant over rice was especially delicious. I did expect the fried dough to be a bit crispier, but overall, the meal was satisfying. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in traditional Chinese style. It’s conveniently located next to the DMV, in the same plaza as Giant in Malvern. I’m confident Lily’s restaurant will do very well!

I am giving a ONE star because of couple reasons: First, they have special dishes that you need to order in advance, so we ordered them in advance; but when arrived, they told me that the person took the order didn’t put the order into the kitchen and therefore they cannot give me what I have ordered. Second, we ordered 3 dishes; it took 55 minutes for the 1st dish to come out, then it took another 30 minutes for the second dish to come out, now my rice is ice cold. We patiently waited for the 3rd dish, after 20 minutes, it still not coming out, so we end up canceling the 3rd dish.

The food is very good and very authentic. With the slowness of food, I will need to think twice or three times if I want to come back even the...
