Just left with a stomach ache after only eating a couple bites and a sip of a milk shake. Despite spending 75$ and leaving a 20% tip up front the cashier treated us like an inconvenience from the start-ignored my son saying 'thank you' multiple times. For some reason my milkshake was made the consistency of milk despite the other shake being normal. Not sure if that was intentional. But as I sat and noticed on my receipt that it said classic fries instead of the truffle fries I ordered, I asked her (just after ordering) and she assured me that it just looks different on the receipt. So when I came back to her setting down the Parmesan fries because they were out of truffle fries. I said, I didn't want them then. She replied, "he said it was ok, so." Gesturing to my 14 year old son who didn't pay. And went to leave, and I repeated that I didn't want them and since I paid could she take them back. She said she was the only one working, and made a mistake as if that was sufficient, and was refusing. I again said I didn't want them and also didn't want the shake. She said I'd have to wait for the manager and took the fries and angrily tossed them in the trash next to our table. I've been to local Burger before, and worked as a waitress, nurse, barista etc myself- all chronically understaffed jobs and haven't ever been treated this way, for seemingly no reason. Local Burger is excellent. Their Northampton location and their BBQ food truck in Haydenville are both fantastic, so it's a real treat getting a branch here in Easthampton.

This branch is in the same location where the beloved Riff's Joint used to be, and it's a worthy replacement, with similar offerings and high quality. This is a more burger-centric place than Riff's was, but there are some non-burger options.

While both Riff's and Local make excellent burgers, Local burger has a couple of points in its favor: grass-fed options for its burgers AND their french fries are way better than Riff's were.
