Along with the repaving of the roads and sidewalks with solid granite curbing on Union Street Easthampton, there is another gem not to be missed!

A beautiful little jewel box of a store, tucked inside the plaza across from Easthampton Diner, and a jewel box is exactly what it is. I have been driving by for quite some time with great curiosity and following the Facebook page since it’s inception.

I have had not one but two jewelry repair emergencies that have needed resolution… One a T&CO. delicate long sterling silver chain that my eponymous key pendant hangs off of had a broken link. The other, a vintage R. Blackinton & Co. handheld sterling silver vanity mirror that was incorrectly engraved by another jeweler. I decided to drop into Aurora to ascertain if they could help me with my woes.

As you walk into the store, the moody dark blue walls enfold you into the space. As all good jewelers, the boutique is serenely and elegantly decorated, letting the beauty in the cases do the talking, gleaming like all the stars in the sky. There are sumptuous stools and chairs upholstered in jewel toned emerald green and a whimsical Easthampton Bear Fest bear with the Aurora Borealis painted all over it to greet you and provide creature comforts.

James Murning, owner, is erudite in his knowledge and passion for his trade and brands. I could talk with him for hours. Speaking of which, he makes you feel most welcome and like the most important person in his presence. In days where customer service is practically non existent, the experience at Aurora Jewelers is nothing short of magical. His inventory is breathtaking! From loose stones to Noam Carver rings, to select luxury Rolex, Breitling, and Tag Hauer watches that he will hunt down for you. THIS is the jeweler I have been waiting for.

Mr. Murning promised a reasonable turnaround for the chain. I was just glad I did not have to take a trip to West Hartford. He was unsure about the engraving but luckily his engraving specialist came in when I was there and said he could take a shot at getting the wrong monogramming off and depending on how compromised the silver was would work from there. Obviously, no one “needs” a sterling silver mirror, so I said to please take all the time needed. At 5:00 p.m. last Saturday night (I was in that morning), I receive call and text to show me the completed mirror with the corrected monogram. I was stunned!

I am glad I discovered this little piece of paradise. The only question I am left asking myself is “what took me so long?”

I’ve had months to think on and prepare for my visit and was not quite sure what to expect as I didn’t know what changes I wanted made to my bridal set, if any at all. I had ideas in my head about what I wanted, but wasn’t sure about a lot of things, mostly the affordability; and I even prepared for a pushy salesy experience as I had not been to a jeweler in a long while because past experiences elsewhere were regrettable. In retrospect, they were not even on the same level as Aurora Jewelers! My initial excuse to visit Aurora was have my bridal rings resized because they no longer fit after a surgery I had and to go look around and possibly select a new wedding band [Christmas gift] for my husband whose band slipped off his finger two years prior, while removing gloves in a field. After several attempts of scouting through the overgrowth to no avail we decided to buy new. When I walked into the store I was greeted by someone who I felt like I had known for years. James was warm and witty and just made me feel at ease to take a deep breath and just look around. By the way, the sparkle in that place will knock your socks off!! ✨ to us it was more than jewelry on our fingers, it was personal. Wearing our rings have more meaning to us than others could imagine. It did not take long to land on the perfect wedding band for my husband and to look at options to give my rings some new life. 👏🏼 ✨ We are so happy with my husbands new wedding band, the newly designed ring for me and the refresh of my wedding and anniversary bands. They look brand new again! 💫 James was nothing but low-key, mild mannered, classy, professional, quick witted, attentive and beyond knowledgeable on every aspect of wedding jewelry. My experience at Aurora Jeweler’s was nothing short of top notch and even that is an understatement. From the moment I walked in, I was taken aback by the shops layout. Everything was just perfectly set up. From the cases, to the decor, and ESPECIALLY the colors and the ambiance, TOTALLY somewhere that hits all the marks for me.

I went in looking to browse rings and while Jimmy had a few other customers that he was entertaining, he was working like a well oiled machine to assist everyone, including myself. I instantly felt right at home! I had absolutely no idea if I was a silver, gold, or somewhere in between type of girl and Jimmy really helped me to discover that facet of myself.

Having been an Easthampton native of 33 years, Aurora Jeweler’s was a niche we were missing out on that is now here and hopefully here to stay. I genuinely look forward to returning to his shop and perusing more jewelry to add to my collection.
