April 27, 2021 I met my girlfriends at new Cancun restaurant. My meal was good, I did not have any alcoholic beverages I had water and we went to leave at about 9:30 PM my girlfriend and I were walking out to my our cars. I stepped off the curb and hit a lip a concrete twist my ankle and fell. I landed on my arm, she help me up and we discovered what I had tripped on was that extra piece of concrete at the bottom of the curb that stuck out above the tar. My arm really hurt; I was embarrassed for falling; went home within 10 minutes I knew I had to go to the ER. Where I found out I fractured my radial head of arm that connects to the elbow. After being home for several days when I was no longer on such a heavy pain medication, I called the Cancun restaurant asked to speak with a manager. The person I talk to said they didn’t have a manager currently they had someone filling in as assistant manager. I told the person what happened; they put me on hold; that person came back and proceeded to tell me that the assistant manager said the parking lot would be fixed in two weeks. I mentioned that I believe that it should be marked or highlighted or coned off anything so no one else got hurt; especially since they had Cinco de Mayo coming up. May 7, 2021 I’m having surgery for replacing my radial head with an implant. I’m talking to the nurse that is prepping me for surgery, she asked me what happen? I told her, and she proceeded to tell me she knew exactly where I fell because on Cinco de Mayo she took her four year old daughter there for lunch. Her daughter fell in the exact same spot I did on the way into the restaurant. Her daughter skinned her knee up really bad and was crying and upset when she went in and asked if they had anything any Band-Aids or anything; she said the staff was not helpful at. She took into the bathroom and cleaned her knee up; she said her daughter can even eat her lunch because she was so upset. I’m currently going to have thousands of dollars in medical bills and I’m in horrendous amount of pain. The orthopedic surgeon told me that I will not be able to get full range of motion & extension back into my hand or elbow. I’m really disappointed that nobody from the restaurant is willing to do anything about this and if two of us got hurt how many more got hurt and didn’t...
Read moreThe Short Story - Mexican Food For Americans - edible, but not that much up from Taco Johns. Nicer surroundings though.
Located in both Eau Claire and in Chippewa Falls, Cancun is a decent American Mexican restaurant. Nothing too special, nothing too spicy, with generic sauces. The staff is attentive, food served fast (straight from the heating table, into a tortilla, onto to your plate), it is a good place for a business lunch - in and out in 30 minutes, but it doesn't feel like they are pushing you out the door (even though they are in working hard to flip tables).
The ubiquitous chips come with a decent, although mild (err, american style) salsa and this odd ranch dip, that has this gluey nasty consistency and odd taste (although surprising ok on top of the generic burrito you ordered)
Ok if you need a decent looking place (think a smaller chi chi's) with generic american mexican food (think chi chi's)
If you want real mexican food - go to where the staff at cancun eats - Taqueria Sandoval, 2824 London Rd. - Now that is great mexican food -- real...
Read moreWent there 8.17.21 and had a terrible experience. Our waiter was nice at first but that changed when they messed up my order. I ordered carnitas and when I got my food I noticed right away they were not carnitas. My friends and I all tried them and it tasted like beef. I told the waiter politely that I had ordered carnitas and was given beef and he said no those are carnitas and brushed it off. He did not offer to even check or ask if I would like something else. I did not eat my food and he kept coming to our table and asking if things were okay but would ignore me and not say anything about my uneaten plate. Finally I told another waiter/manager that my food was wrong but he also told me that were carnitas. And although he did take my plate and not charge me for it they never offered me something else instead or even bother really looking at the dish. I had gone to Cancun a couple weeks prior and had carnitas that were really good, obviously I would know the difference. I wish they would have just handled the...
