Perkins American Food Co. — Restaurant in Eau Claire

I'm sad to say this is quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had at a Perkins. From start to finish. Don't get me wrong, our waitress was very nice but she was unattantentive and it wasn't that busy, in fact there were empty tables all around us. I asked for water only, when asking for water only one would think you would either get a large glass or a carafe of water for refills. I received a small juice cup of water which consumed within 10-15 mins. No, she hadn't returned to take our order. She was AWOL, nowhere in sight. Finally she made an appearance with another tables food and was going to just briskly walk past our table without even so much as looking at us to see if we were ready to give our order. I had to speak out " ma'am, ma'am, MA'AM" until she finally stopped and acted like we were completely new people. 😒 We placed our order and I specifically asked for "limp" bacon, I don't like crispy bacon, there's no flavour when it's burnt to a crisp because it crumbles into nothing when you try to chew it. Our food comes in a timely fashion, still no water and as I start to ask for more water I look at my bacon and I can tell its rock hard. The waitress comes back with my larger cup of water and I show her my bacon, " umm, ma'am this isn't limp' as I'm holding up , she looks at it and says " omg, no it sure isn't". Now, wouldn't you think she would have noticed that when picking it up, walking it out, placing on table? I know I did when I was in food service. She apologizes and goes to get more, fine. We start in on our meal and all I can say is what a disappointment. The pancakes, which desperately love, were hard as, well, hardtack. Not kidding. Both of of our pancakes were hard and tasteless, I think they left out an ingredient or two when mixing it not to mention they were also overcooked. Both of us had scrambled eggs which were ok until we hit the "snotty" parts underneath. That to me is the most disgusting thing to experience. In childhood my stepmother would make eggs and they were always "snotty", we had to eat them anyway as to not hurt her feelings, the rest of everything else she made was phenomenal but eggs were a no go. So this was a bit "triggering" for me. The waitress(sorry, I don't remember her name) comes back with more bacon, looking very proud and presents the same, sad looking bacon with a genuine smile. I couldn't bare to tell her to look at it and see that it was the same burnt bacon as before. I will say there was ONE piece out of all the pieces I received that was actually "limp". I don't think the cook is properly trained, either that or they just don't give a rats patooty. We finished what we could and flagged down our waitress, when she arrived at the table she looked at our plates and asked if we needed boxes. We declined and she looked perplexed because our plates were essentially still full. We paid for our food, tipped our waitress generously, as always. I would totally give this zero stars. So, my friend and I went here after a long day of being out and about. This place was kinda busy but not too bad. The service sucked because first the guy didn't give us any water like a normal restaurant does, but asked what we wanted for a beverage besides water. The guy also never came around unless to put down something on the table. Anyway, we order a sampler plate. That was all good arrived 10 minutes later after we ordered it. The mozzarella sticks could have been cooked more. The entrees though, came 20 to 25 minutes after our appetizers, and everything but my chicken that I had on my plate was undercooked. My friends shrimp she had seemed to be thrown on the plate, wasn't even cooked but warm, her tomatoes which were fresh tasted almost rotten, and the sauce on the dish was disgusting to her. We ended up not eating it at all. I told the waiter the whole bad experience, after he came around to ask if we wanted boxes to which i told him no, he then said I'll tell my manage of what we can do. Meanwhile my friend was only to get cash just to throw, she came back to say she ended up paying with her card. I told her leave the receipt I'll deal with it, she left not wanting to deal with it. The waiter comes back 5 minutes later, and I see him wanting to avoid me and I see the manager walk pass me avoiding me, the waiter comes to me and says 'your friend paid, there is now nothing I can do about it'. I left after that a bit annoyed. I have never in my life experienced something so horrible that I have to complain to the manager to which he never even talk to me and to rant here. The two stars is for the horrendous service my boyfriend and I received, not the place itself. It was clean, we went probably around 1AM to grab food after a shift at work. Took 10 minutes just to get seated, another 10 for our waitress Lisa (who was seemingly the only one that night). We got our drinks, my food came out quick; I had ordered appetizers and they were fine. Nothing phenomenal but didn't expect it to be. My boyfriend ordered a burger of the waitresses recommendation, it took 45 minutes to get out to him, without the extra things he added to his order. She didn't stop by our table for, no joke, an hour and a half. Didn't refill our drinks, didn't come ask how the food was, avoided our table like we weren't even there. There were about 5 or 6 seated tables, busy enough but slow enough where she could have made a few rounds to ask everyone how their food is, get checks etc.

She finally comes to our table with our bill around 3:30AM, asks if we need anything else. My boyfriend proceeds to say what wasn't great about our meal (lack of refills, extra cheese that he was charged for and did not receive, no service in general), she instantly had an attitude, rolled her eyes, and walked away from our table after cutting him off mid sentence. We are very, very upset, at that point still hungry, very thirsty, and takes more time to come take payment, probably another 10 minutes.
