It was surprisingly weird service from Sean, if I remember his name correctly. He was a very tall big guy. We realized the happy hour was gonna start in 4 minutes and asked the server if he wanted to take our orders and put it later. He said he will not accept our order and said he'll back when it starts, and that was absolutely fine with us. That's obviously totally understandable but what left us shocked was that he went to another table right in front of us and took their happy hour order and explained everything. If you have a policy, then it should be same for everyone not tell us one thing and do another for other table. When the food came, we asked for sharing plates and he answered I don't have extra arms. It felt a little rude considering we didn't know if he was going to grab it later, and they usually bring the plates after they take food orders. We didn't mind that as well. Unfortunately as soon as he brought our food out (after 20 minutes we sat down to order) he straight out told us that we can pay the bill on the machine and went to the other table, asking if they wanted anything else. We wanted more drinks and appetizers too. The funny thing is that we were sitting right next to the stairs so every single time he checked on the other table he walked right past us. We were just waiting and wondering if he will ever ask us if we needed anything else. We had to ask someone else if it's ok to take our order or use the machine. After our second appetizer run, he came to us and grabbed the machine and started setting up the payment. At that point we were both very shocked and lost all of our appetites and just wanted to leave although they close at midnight, after 2 more hours, we felt rushed and once again we started waiting for anyone to pass by just to ask for a carry out box. We just put the cash down on the table and wanted to leave, but surprisingly he suddenly appeared right behind us to tell us we still needed to pay. At least check the table first. It was very...
Read moreMy husband and I have been going to this Applebees consistently for almost a year now. We usually get half off apps at the bar so we see the bartender, Ty, on a regular basis. Last night, we came in for half off apps with some friends and were seated in a large booth but waved to Ty who was bartending. When my husband tried to order a beer, he gave our waitress his temporary photo ID and yellow papers which he got from the DMV when his wallet was stolen. We were assured by management at the DMV that although the ID was temporary, it was still a valid, state-issued, form of identification that could be used at a bank, restaurant, or anywhere else. The waitress took my husbands ID and told us she had to show it to her manager. Someone named Chip then came over and told us that he needs to have a card otherwise it's not a valid ID. I told him that he was incorrect and that is a valid ID from the DMV. There's even a bar code on it so it could be scanned. He once again told us that there was nothing he could do so we dropped it. Then, we thought that he could get a beer from Ty at the bar. As soon as my husband went to the bar, Chip was back to now tell Ty that he could not serve him. Ty vouched for him and told Chip that he had been serving my husband for a year and could verify that he was at least 21. Chip again said no, accused my husband of photo shopping the ID and yellow papers, patted him on the back and said "you must really need a fing drink". The service we received last night was extremely disappointing to say the least. It's one thing to not be trained in on what is a valid ID but to accuse a regular customer of photo shop and say "you must really need a fing drink" should be grounds for termination. We love Ty and every other server/manager we've encountered at our many trips to Applebee's but I cannot say the same for Chip. I really hope Applebee's does the right thing because no customer should ever be spoken...
Read moreI can usually always count on Applebee's to deliver quality food at a good price and service with a smile. Unfortunately, after my most recent Applebee's experience at this location, my usual certainty for a good experience has changed. It was about 9:00pm on a Saturday and not particularly busy. We are seated quickly by a well mannered host and told that our server would be with us shortly. After waiting what seemed about 10 minutes, our server Syd arrived with no apology for the delay. She asked if we wanted to start off with a drink, I asked for a Pepsi and my date asked for a water. Before she turned around, we also told her that we were ready to place our order as well. She told us she'd be right back with the drinks. Another 5 minutes go by and Syd brings me out my side salad, (still haven't gotten the drinks). She says she'll be right back and finally brings them out. A minute later she brings out our entree and asks if I wanted any sauce for my steak; I ask for A1. She comes by at a brisk pace and hardly slows down to drop the bottle on our table and run off to the next without a word. Syd never returned to ask if everything was alright or to refill our drinks. She finally returned only to drop the check and ran off again. No apology for forgetting our drinks and no thank you for stopping by, meant I would leave a smaller tip than normal (20%). I decided to leave $2.50, but Syd must not have appreciated that, after all she'd done. I check my credit card statement the next day to find that she had charged $3.50. I can't say for sure if this was a mistake or not, but after the bad service and poor attitude, this was the tipping point. Applebee's has been great for me in the past, but I will not be returning to this location. If you happen to be dining here beware Syd. Not only with you not enjoy your experience, she will change the way you think...
