Edgewater rejoice, El Cabrito has arrived!
I am not usually one to dine out on a Friday night but my daughter saw the barely visible sign that El Cabrito had opened. Went to dinner on a Friday night and because it has just opened there were very few people in the restaurant but the dining room is big and will be able to handle the onslaught of people once word speads that they have opened. If it is anything like the 2 in Annapolis, I am guessing it will not be long before it is discovered and I will regret sharing how good their food is.
I ordered the chicken fajitas and they were delicious and about 1/2 the price of most places in the Annapolis area. The rice/beans and guac were fresh and the chips and salsa were very good though I wish the salsa had more substance to it (flavor was great but it is liquidity). My only negative is that the margaritas were expensive for what you got. With that being said, the food was stellar and I am so happy I don't have to go to Annapolis to satisfy my El Cabrito burrito craving.
Here's to hoping that El Cabrito will be the one restaurant to finally make this new location a success as it has been a revolving door of restaurants...
Read moreWe had heard good things about this place, but unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to the hype. The fajitas were a letdown— the tortillas were thick, rubbery, and hard to enjoy. There seemed to be more green peppers than anything else on the skillet, which made it hard to appreciate the other flavors. On top of that, I had to ask for a plate after the food arrived, which felt a little off.
The burritos were similarly disappointing, overflowing with rice and green peppers, but barely any meat to balance it out. It was just too much filler. Even the chips and salsa missed the mark; they didn’t have the usual crispness or flavor you’d expect.
It also seemed like the restaurant was understaffed—only three people were working that night (two servers and a chef), which likely affected the overall service and experience. While I appreciate the effort, there are definitely some areas that need improvement. Wouldn’t rush back, but I hope they get...
Read moreI’ve very much enjoyed the food here so far. If you like TexMex or Americanized Latin food, this place might not be for you, so read reviews and the menu carefully. I’ve had the enchiladas, beef tacos, chicken tacos, and a steak burrito. All were excellent. The green and orange sauces are sooo good, especially the smokey orange one. The entrees had beautifully cooked peppers and onion bulbs. I found the flavors to be really multidimensional and the right amount of heat. The ordering process and kitchen were a bit slow but I attribute that to clunky electronics and language barrier. I value tastey food over being “waited on” perfectly anyway. The staff are very nice! The inside looks nice and festive to me, although my orders so far have been to-go. Costs seem very fair to me; the burrito was $10 and lasted me nearly 2 meals worth. Very excited to try more...
