Update 04/03/2024 My wife brought her own water from home. The waitress would not allow her to have it, even though she explained she didn't like restaurant water. We have never had this issue with ANY restaurant we have visited. Very narrow minded staff, we were willing to pay for a good amount of food, and they turn us away for a glass of water. We will not be coming back. The atmosphere is like a country store, with a lot of country decor. My experience is mixed. Even though they are trying to go country, it ends up being another Mexican restaurant. The waitress spoke no English, most of the menu was Mexican style dishes and the sodas only came in bottles (no refill). It took a while to get our food. The country dish I did order was the ground beef steak with gravy, mashed potatoes and corn. I didn't want corn but they refused to substitute it for anything. The gravy was very thick and salty and looked like it came out of a package. No onions. Potatoes were ok. They put salsa on the table but no free chips - you have to pay, so I told her to to take it away. My wife's Mexican plate was good. Fajitas were tasty, tortillas were homemade (excellent) and rice was good. Overall, the dishes are overpriced for what you get. I can spend less with better quality at another restaurant. I have not tried there other dishes, but my guess is that they specialize in Mexican food, so dont be fooled by the decor. I may come back just to try something else, but it won't be at the top of my list.

Don't order Ribeye!!! The place looks well themed as an old Texan diner, so it is cozy and nice. It is clean, and the bathroom was clean, too :). Service was good, no frills, just good service, not excellent, not bad, just good service. The food was not what I was hoping for, especially when ordering a Ribeye steak in Texas. It wasn't Ribeye - i am sure it was Chuck Eye, a ribeye cousin. I was hoping to get it medium, I was told they only cooked steaks well done. When the steak arrived, it was as hard as a horse steak. I asked the server to make sure it was a Ribeye, and she said it was. So, I do not recommend you order a Ribeye steak here. I guess that is what you get when ordering a $19 Ribeye - no such thing! I think it was sirloin or some other cut. As someone who grills Ribeyes all the time, I know that even when well done, a Ribeye is a Ribeye. This is why they get one star. I was gaslit to believe I was eating a Ribeye. They rest of the group seemed ok with the food. Here is a photo of the "Ribeye" (I should have asked if it was horse ribeye :) )

So let's start with the good. The place is very nicely decorated, bringing back memories of ones childhood. Our server, Diana, was extremely attentive. I noticed that all the wait staff were working as a team, checking in on each other's tables. Our coffee cup was never empty. I had the chicken fried steak & eggs plate. That was the most tender cfs I haver ever eaten. My eggs were cooked to perfection as well. Here comes the bad part. When our server came to take our drink order, I asked for a coffee and a glass of water, to which she informed me that they don't serve water, that I'd have to buy a bottled water if I wanted water. (Totally ridiculous). Then came the pancakes... they were the worst pancakes I've ever had. I had an extremely hard time cutting them. They were extremely thin & rubbery. And lastly, the salt & pepper shakers had rust on the lids. This place can do better, I've never heard of a restaurant not offering water to their customers, and how in the world can you own a restaurant named "Country Cafe" and serve horrible pancakes.

We have been going to this cafe for over 20 years. Will not return very poor management!!! My elderly mother always ordered enchiladas one of her favorite meals, but, today she returned the food because the tortillas were very hard, the owner had to be called over because the server never checked on us after she’s delivered our food. The owner came back with one enchilada for her to try and again my mother was not happy with the quality of the food so she stated she did not want it. An my mom did not want to order anything else. I spoke to the server an she removed the plate of enchiladas. I split my meal with my mom so she could eat. I then went up to pay for our meals. The so called server was also the so called manager had not removed the enchiladas from the bill. I asked why since she was not happy with the quality of the food and she did not eat it. The manager stated that she had to speak to the owner about it. They both returned a she stated that the other table had no problems with the enchiladas and I should pay for it . First off we aren’t the other table !!! Trust me when I say this I would have had no problem paying for the meal. If they hadn’t been so unprofessional. Then they both started yelling at us in front of other guests stating I should be happy they removed the meal from my check. What else should they had done she states, first off removing it from the bill would have been a lot easier then all of your poor professionalism. An we should never return to the cafe. I do not recommend this restaurant. They need new owners and better service . Highly unprofessional!!!! One way to lose business! Clearly not the way to treat people!!! Don’t even...

Worst experience ever. I definitely will not be returning. Ordered the chicken fried chicken and it was so dried out in some places and in others it was soft. I literally left the whole piece there and not once did the server check or ask if everything was ok. We asked for refills from other people other than waiter so I figured she was new. Being that she was new she could have at least asked if everything was ok when I would try and flag her down. When she finally came I told her the chicken wasn't a good quality piece. She took it to the back and came back laughing. I went to the front to pay and ask the lady at the register if she was a manager. "She said why what do you need?" Told her about the chicken and she responded with " It was a soft piece and nothing was wrong with it". I was already upset so I just told her to charge me and I didn't care if she charge the chicken. She then said "there I took it off". I paid and said I will not be returning and she responded with "if that was the case you should have just paid for it then." Worst experience and really bad management, as a manager you are the face of the restaurant and if you have so many zero and one stars then you really need to step it up and get involved to see how you can change that. First and last time , I highly would not recommend anyone to eat here. I'm trying to post this And it won't let me with out checking things that apply. I think they should have a wouldn't recommend. Plus if it is a zero star experience it should be an option. It doesn't...
