This shope used to be me and my wife's favorite place to go! Even on a diet we will make this our cheat day snack! However it seems like its grow and fame around the community made them lose roots of the great business they started of as. My wife and i would ask for some flavors which the lady would tell us they will let us know eventually when they will do them or said it was going to be available throughout the week but never was. My wife placed and order to get the specific flavors we wanted and paid in advance but when i went to pick up thre oreer the order wasnt made nor were we called or notify about it but said we could get any other doughnuts free or charge to replace the ones order (odd when you have already paid for it) we never made a bug deal but recently my wife asked about some flavors availability and the response on intagram sounded rude and aggressive. I wrok customer service and i know how customers can get, i know how a business runs and how though it can be but if the flavors requested weren available in a long time, or did not sale and would no longer carry them, it would have been better to let your customers know, but dont lie to customers promising the order and then not doing it or saying such things like "it will be made this week" but never happens. Honestly very disappointed of how business can grow so quickly and forget about the customers that were there from the beginning and give them such...
Read moreI was craving donuts and down to try something new. I saw the rave reviews and had to check Papy out. It lived up to every bit of the hype.
They are located in a newer shopping center and Google Maps gave me a slight runaround. However, I was excited when I finally found it.
Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by a friendly rep. After learning it was our first time, she kindly talked us through options and introduced us to their flavors. Despite arriving late Saturday afternoon when they were "low" on inventory, there still seemed to be an endless array of choices from a few donut staples to a slew of tasty flavor creations.
There were so many we wanted to try but we settled on four. I got the Samoa-inspired donut and a Banana Cheesecake. My son got the cocunut pecan and the pistachio. They all looked amazing.
We ordered to go. We were so excited to try them that they didn't last the ride home. From the very first bite, it was evident that they are freshly made in-house. They had perfect texture. Every donut was packed with flavor and pleasing to the palate.
From local panaterias to many regional and national donut chains, I have tried almost all the Valley has to offer. Papys Donuts stand out with their quality, service, variety and taste! I will...
Read moreI've had some time to really think this over. Papy's is some of the best donut/pastries we've ever had. No doubt about it. Just had a very bad experience once and that was it. Wanted to surprise my wife for her bday earlier this year with their specialized lettering donuts. Placed order weeks in advance. Wanted to pick up order along with her on her bday. Keep in mind, we live in Harlingen. That's how much we vauled their quality. Come to find out that they didn't even have my order even made. Was one of the worst feelings I've ever experienced because I really wanted to do something different besides a bday cake and again especially of how much we vauled Papy's quality. Owner did the right thing in a refund and comping us whatever they had at their pastry bar at that moment. But felt so bad that they didn't have the order and was so embrassed with my wife being right there for the whole thing. Then to make things worst, they were advertising BDay donuts on their social media stories even after this encounter. Almost felt like a slap in the face. Again, they have some of the best tasting donuts/pastries we've ever. 100% But my advice is to follow up with them on any orders being placed in advanced leading up to the customer's desired...
