Sip Matcha — Restaurant in Edinburg

I went here thinking it would be good. I saw the comments and it was 50/50 so I went in unbiased . while waiting in line I saw someone’s review that was posted 1 hr ago (at the time) and it said it was horrible and was rated a 1 star… but I disregarded it, because I thought maybe they were exaggerating it. But they were not lol… don’t get me wrong I love the whole minimalist/ girly pop vibe cuz I thought it was so cutesy until I tried it lol…. The drink was horrible like the presentation was amazing but the taste was horrible. I went again because some friends wanted to try it so I said why not… we all went it was 6 of us and one of them were good it was the strawberry puree matcha. I got the regular matcha with honey and it was bad (it was kind of grainy, the dude forgot to put honey, and it was more milk than matcha) .my other friend got the mango puree matcha and hers was too sweet. It was very inconsistent, I feel like they might need to retrain the staff or something because it’s so inconsistent… I go to a lot of local shops and I feel like this place has so much potential but they need to train their staff to do everything like how sovereign does I noticed that place is very consistent with the taste. I’m not saying the place is better, im saying it’s more consistent. It has potential but they really need to work on making it...

I went to SIP Matcha Bar the week of its grand opening. I was so excited to go here as my family had recently gone and enjoyed their experience. I am a matcha fan, and no, not of just sweetened green milk. And to say the least, this place disappointed me. My husband and I waited outside for at least 45min before we went inside to order, understandably, I chose to wait to see what the hype was about. Upon going inside, I was shocked at the size of the location and how hot it was inside. There were 3 fans on to help, but it felt as if they didn’t even have the A/C on. It is a cute shop, but more grab and go as other reviews said. You walk past the assembly bar as you order and it was filthy. I genuinely was disgusted at the lack of cleanliness with both the bowls/whisks and the counter. The employees were back and forth grabbing things without a care to wash their hands. This business only put thought into their quality ingredients but not to the structure of their employees. The drinks were being handed off, people running in and out of the store, it was chaotic. Went here for the first time after hearing it on social media since it first opened. When I first walked in I noticed right away how small the place was. It’s definitely not a place to go and chat or do school work. The tables are so small, but it’s okay cause I know this business is just starting :). I got the lotus matcha and the strawberry puree matcha . I will have to say they were really good. Although I did notice the matcha had a different undertone flavor than others but Ik matcha flavors can be different. The cookie butter foam was so good and the strawberry puree had a very fresh flavor. The reason I’m giving it four stars is due to the price point. Unfortunately it’s not a place you’d want to consistently visit. Almost 10 dollars for a matcha is kind of insane. Usually you’ll see these prices in bigger cities like LA, Houston, or NY. Even then I remember getting a double matcha for 7 $ in LA. Ik they use pricier matcha powder but I’m just putting it out there because almost 10$ for the valley is crazy. Other than that it’s definitely worth a try once in a while, I can’t wait to try their mango...
