I went to the hookah lounge last Friday evening. The atmosphere was nice and the place was quite full. None of us are really big hookah smokers, we smoke occasionally. The menu was quite extensive, they had so many flavors, it would be a hookah lovers dream. And I would probably recommend it for anybody looking for a local hookah lounge however, after what they charged me, I am not sure if I will ever return. We ordered two small hookahs with straight flavors right off the menu- at priced listed at $28. We were told we had to get two hookahs because there was four of us, which was no problem, so we ordered two small hookahs and four water bottles and we left there at $115. On top of which we left a tip because we did not know that the charge already included gratuity. The receipt they gave to us was not itemized, and we paid it. Not thinking! The next day we thought about it and realized that was quite high, so we called the lounge on Monday. We spoke to two different people at length and explained that we had questions regarding our charges. We were told we got “German” hookahs which were more costly. Until we were told this we had never previously heard of this option. We advised the individuals we spoke to that we would like a manager to call us back. They took down our callback number, but it is now Friday and nobody has called us back. We do not appreciate this type of Customer Service. If there was an option for a different type of hookah, which cost more, we should’ve been informed of that when we ordered the hookah. The only question we were asked when we ordered the hookah was if we wanted a small or a large size hookah. I would like to post this so that others can be aware that when you do go here you may get caught up in the fact that it is a nice, clean, large hookah lounge with an extensive menu of flavors, but please be weary of the charges. And the lounge should offer an itemized receipt at checkout. I withheld my post to allow for the manager to call us back and make this right, but I guess they don’t care to please...
Read moreTheir hookahs are mediocre and so are their flavors (Black Magic is worth trying) The quality of their service is directly proportional to how busy they are. They charge a flat service fee (18%) so their staff didn't check in with us at all and how often their team got our orders wrong probably deserves a separate review but they were attentive when we asked for the right order. They have a strict rule of two people per hookah so even if you have three people, you will need two hookahs. Everyone in the group needs to order something, even if its a bottle of water. The only reason they can operate the way they do is because they are one of the 'better looking' places in the area.
Now for anyone wanting to read into the details:
I reached out to Ron to organize a party (~20) for a friend. They don't take reservations even though I offered to make a deposit. However, they assured me our group could be accomodated if a few of us showed up early to hold a spot. We did show up early and had to wait for over 45 minutes before anyone would even take my call (the not-so-polite guy at the door was brutal). They have a sign on the door that says each group is limited to an hour stay when it's busy and even though I was told the group that was in the area where we would have been had been there for 2+ hours, they can't ask them to leave (so why even have that sign on the door?). After waiting for over 45 minutes, Ron appears and broke the news that they have a VIP area that is available but it's 50$ per person (why wouldn't he bring this up earlier?), given 20 of us had been waiting for so long, we took that option. According to Ron, I wasn't told about the VIP area because 'there's a limit of 12' or so people for the VIP area, but they don't care how many people you fit in because that's just more money for them, so we ended up fitting 20 some people in...
Read moreMaya Hookah Lounge is truly a gem — the kind of place you walk into once and immediately know it’s going to be your go-to spot. From the second you step inside, you’re welcomed by an atmosphere that balances vibrant energy with laid-back comfort. The lighting, music, and décor all come together to create a space that feels both upscale and inviting — perfect for a night out with friends or even just to unwind after a long day.
But what really sets Maya apart is the hookah itself. The flavors are unmatched — smooth, fresh, and long-lasting. Every pull is perfection, and the staff makes sure your experience stays consistent all night. They know their craft inside and out, and you can tell they put real pride into preparing the hookah the right way.
Service here is another level. The team treats you like family — attentive without hovering, always ready with recommendations, and quick to make sure your coals, drinks, and vibe are on point. You never feel rushed, and you never feel ignored. That’s a hard balance to strike, but Maya nails it every time.
And then there’s the overall vibe — it’s honestly unbeatable. Whether it’s the carefully curated playlists, the crowd it attracts, or just the energy of the lounge itself, Maya has that rare magic that keeps people coming back. It’s the type of place where one visit turns into a tradition.
I’ve been to plenty of lounges across NJ and NYC, and nothing compares to Maya. This is not just a hookah lounge; it’s an experience. If you’re looking for the best of the best — the place where everything comes together perfectly — Maya Hookah Lounge is...
