This was one of the worst, if not the worst, restaurant experiences I've ever had. The Chipotles I've been to have usually been pretty good, but this was horrible! Immediately upon walking into the restaurant, we noticed just how dirty it was. The tables were unwashed and the floor was unswept. For context, we were the only customers there upon walking in. Surely at least one employee could have taken some of their time to clean up a little, considering they weren't busy? One employee with sagging jeans came out from the back with a Celsius and a large Chipotle drinks cup. He went to the drinks machine, filled the cup up with ice, then poured the Celsius in it. Frankly unprofessional! We decided to go outside because it was slightly cleaner. The tables were also not sanitized out there. There was a place where a trash bin should be, which had a basket sign, indicating that it was probably from whatever the restaurant was before it was a Chipotle. However, there was no trash bin outside. In its place was a spray bottle of Grill cleaner instead. We had to wait a while to receive our order (we had ordered online a while ago), and when we checked the order we received, it was completely wrong. We took the order back inside to get it fixed, and learned later that they had put our sticker on the wrong order. They had switched our order with another guy's, and we had already touched the food, so they probably had to throw it away (though, given the attitude of the restaurant, I wouldn't be surprised to learn they had given it to him anyway). We got our order over 10 minutes after it was due. The food, especially the meat, was cold, the chips were rubbery and stale, and some rice in my tacos was as hard as pebbles (so hard, I initially spat some out because I didn't trust it to not be something metal in my chicken until I figured out what it really was). One in my group reluctantly went inside to use the restroom before we left. He told us when he got back that the women's restroom was clearly marked with a sign, but the men's just had a circle with a triangle in it. The food gave all of my group members bellyaches as we hit the road, but luckily we didn't get e-coli or vomit after that unpleasantness. DO NOT COME HERE if you care about your TIME, HEALTH, MONEY,...
Read moreNot a clean table in the place trash on the floors overflowing the garbage cans but yet head six employees standing around behind the counter only two working out of eight employees total. completely out of everything except for chicken and the most they were giving you was one small flat scoop they would fit in that little pocket on the right side of a pair of Jean. Ask for napkins hot sauce straw and forks. 5 x got ignored by all the employees except for the one working the register who was already dealing with all the complaints from everyone else in there. I do understand that at the time I just come in after a small college basketball team had gotten dinner the bus was loading up and pulling away as I had arrived. There's no reason the six other employees couldn't have been taking care of food prep cleaning the dining area and restocking supplies the only reason I'm giving this place two stars is one I'm an understanding guy when it comes to getting slammed with orders from a basketball the second star is for the older gentleman working register who seem to be the only one with any customer service The rest of the staff working seem to have no work ethics and with a line of people still behind me they felt socializing was more important than doing the job they are paid to do don't know why these kids think you're supposed to get paid for just showing up and being there. December 30th 2023 somewhere around 7PM. I believe what is the time in case management happens to read this review as well. But I have a feeling Management's probably incompetent as well and why the staff is the way they are somebody give the older gentleman a raise with pay him for a 40 hour week but only work the man 20 so he keeps his sanity having to work with the rest of the incompetent staff . I have been to several McDonald's that have mentally challenged staff that are more capable of doing the job than the able-bodied adult children working at...
Read moreWhile vacationing, my family and I traveled through Effingham IL. to refill our gas tank and get a bite to eat. We went to Chipotles. As we were opening the door, a Black family was exiting the restaurant. We could not hear clearly. However, we did the gentlemen say, "their attitudes were very nasty." We proceeded to go to the counter, and we quickly understood exactly what the previous customer was talking about. Yes, the workers were rude , however, the MANAGER was extremely indignant. There was little to no food in the trays. When asked if we could get fresh food, the manager went completely off. We stood aside and told the next family( white) to please go ahead of us. The manager immediately told the workers to refill the trays to give them fresh food. ( thus was approximately 2 pm. during the week). My family and I are mostly vegetarians and support Chipotles on a weekly basis. Never ever had we experienced such racism After our interactions with the MANAGER, we then understood why the family in front of us walked out empty-handed, as well as our family. We went and patronized and establishment in which we felt welcomed . We were so distraught that I took it upon myself to look up the demographics in Effingham. The information did not surprise me.
My only regret is that I did not video tape this interaction.
I will close by saying that I am a firefighter in a major city. When the call comes in, it does not matter the race, I am paid to be a professional when providing service to the public. Also, my sister owns a restaurant, in which she deals with all races of people ( employees/ customers). We are fully aware of how to deal with people . The service that we received at Chipotles was totally unprofessional and...
