Just meh, maybe our expectations were hyped because of all the good things my mom keeps hearing about the place and the promise of all the people grabbing to go orders here but we weren't really impressed. Mom and I both ordered chimichangas I had carne she the ground beef. Best part of the chimi was the cheese sauce it was covered in, carne had little flavor but I can't count the number of times I had to stop and spit out a chunk of fat or gristle that I just can't handle, it was chopped in such small pieces many could probably handle it but anything aside from the actual meat I just can't do. Pico and lettuce in place was a nice touch but lacked any overall flavor in the pico. Horchata was good in that it didn't have the grit many places do but lacked some cinnamon IMO. Table salsa had good flavor we all love it when we can actually taste cilantro and you could here. Hubby had a taco plate but he does his own reviews, what I remember is that the onions weren't fresh probably (no flavor) and that the radish could have been pickled. Also a bit disappointed in the tortillas being all wrapped up and only having one per taco! Would we come back when back to visit mom again…possibly...
Read moreThis is laughable! Never in my experience have I ever received an order of fajitas in this small of a portion. I don't even think that is half a chicken breast. If this is normal for this restaurant, Effingham residents are getting ripped off. If you compare my portions to a dine in guest in the photos for here, wow, I got scammed. Paying $15.15 for this on top of a $3.99 delivery fee is ridiculous. All mexican restaurants that I have ordered fajitas from put the chicken in a small aluminum container that fills that container. This portion would probably fill 1/4th maybe. Be warned anyone ordering from here, you definitely won't get your moneys worth. The taco salad was worse. Was supposed to have picadillo as protein and they sprinkled a few crumbles of beef on it. Once again, scammed. This restaurant is a joke. Chipotle is better lol. Actually, even taco bell would be...
Read moreDon Pedro is top notch. Living in effingham, it is easy to get lost in the sea of convenient restaurants…but I come here nearly every time I dine out.
The chefs work hard and it shows. I’ve never been served a bad meal here. The foh staff are all so friendly and fun to talk to! It is by far the best restaurant in town, because they have the perfect balance between quality and approachability. If you want something small and light for lunch, don pedro. If you want If you want to splurge and get something authentic or unique, don pedro. If you want to sip on margaritas and eat tacos on the roof, don pedro.
Love these guys. Love the handmade tortillas (ask for them), the homemade salsas (green), Al pastor tacos, and any of the regional dishes. Seriously,...
