We had Martin's IGA Bakery cater our wedding reception with cupcakes. We ordered basic chocolate and vanilla, as well as a small 6" cake for formal cutting.
We recommend finding them at the bridal expo like we did, so that you can book that day for 15% off. They had another deal for 10% off, but you'd have to call and ask for the details.
As for the taste, quality, and size of the cupcakes, we were very pleased. They tasted great, were fluffy, and a perfect size that weren't too big for our full guests, or too small for the sweet lovers. They also offered for us to "rent" their cupcake stand, but they return the money once you return the stand - What a deal!
Overall, we'd definitely recommend IGA's bakery as a budget friendly place to buy wedding baked goods. They tasted great, looked good, but didn't come with the expensive small...
Read moreThis store was owned by Martin's now Kirby's owns & runs things here; I have to say I've noticed a slight turn for the worse since the change over. Things r on average $1.25-$2.00 more for an equivalent item at another store like Walmart or Dollar General, and the overall quality of the groceries here is only fair to so-so at best. They do have a selection of some items like Good & Plenty Candy that would b hard to get elsewhere but I'd say 85% or so of what they offer u r overpaying by a fair chunk ofash for em; the best thing to say about Kirby's is it's right in the neighborhood, just blocks away from where I stay when I'm visiting Effingham, and since I'm on foot close proximity is very nice; however, their merchandise is only ok quality and is overpriced for what...
Read moreThey are a nice place, but have raised prices since the new change over. Their bakery and deli have great food. Would've given higher rating if it weren't for the over pricing. It's not like it's 50 cents over Walmart or our local Sav-a-lot. It's like 2$ sometimes 3$ more. And also, they used to be good with taking WIC. Now, because of the price gouging, they refuse to take WIC for certain items that they used to take it for. Because they don't want to override the system to change the price. Because it goes over the the total WIC amount that is already at the high end totals because of the Chicago area. That's how much more overiced they are at this store. So, if you're on budget, this place is not...
