Iron Horse Restaurant is completely Midwest and really good food you'll see a lot of different salads there that are Midwest salads three bean salad bunch of jello salads that are totally Midwest they have really good fried chicken and it's on the buffet the bar today they had a barbecue chicken regular Fried Chicken they had hamburger steaks and gravy they had corn they had green beans they had mac and cheese and then the three soups and then they have a great a wonderful salad bar and that has plenty of fruits and vegetables and they usually have homemade cake on the buffet so wonderful and they have it's set up like a regular kitchen would be you come through the line get your drinks or your sides if you want exercise that kind of thing and then you pay at the end and if there's plenty room to set it's a huge dining room so if you're coming into Effingham it is downtown go down to Fayette Avenue and go to Kirby's it's called Kirby's not used to be called IGA so go down there and it will get this right there to the right and you can't miss it there's a big sign out there just go in and enjoy they have the buffet from 11:00 to 4:00 for an early lunch or even a late lunch...

It was hard to find this location due to them not having very much advertising on the outside. We came in the back door because we did not know where the front door was at. The eggs were cold, the sausage was cold and hard and inedible, the donut tastes stale and was at least several days old, and the biscuits and gravy had no taste whatsoever. Very limited options for a $12 price tag. Was disappointed with the selection and the taste of the items and definitely will not be back. This restaurant is located INSIDE the IGA. It's behind the pharmacy and deli counter. You go through the line, get your tray and drink then seat yourself. The food is excellent. The salad and dessert bar is expansive. SO MANY great choices and variety. The hot bar doesn't have a huge selection, but what was there was delicious. Lots of seating area, clean bathrooms and a cozy environment. Staff were all extremely friendly. We had a party of 11 and everyone enjoyed it. We will definitely be eating here again when in town.
