An average experience, no different than any other bargin buffet. The food: The selections was very typical ranging from American classics, to bad taco bell knock off, and a very boring salad bar. They do have some great dishes but really don't add any wow factor or even relatable Community foods. El cajon location has a huge variety of cultures with Hispanic, middle eastern, Somali, Asian, none of which are represented here except the really bad taco bell style crunchy tacos. They did have some southern dishes which were passable to a non southerner. Price: actually a little lower than expected at less than $20 for a weekday dinner. Customer service: nice enough employees, the grill master cooking up steaks was the key person there. Everyone knew him and talked to him. He was a great guy and really went above and beyond to ensure your dining experience. Location: great location, easy to get to, plenty of parking and about a block from downtown El cajon to walk off all that food. Decor is also nothing special. Pretty sure they just reused the old hometown buffet interior, perhaps even their menu. Overall: I will go back and try their breakfast options. It is ok, better for the price nothing really makes me want to go there though. They need almost a whole new menu, heck serve breakfast all day that's a winner. The desert selection was very sad. Mostly store bought looking cookies and some cakes. Even the Sunday bar was pretty sad. The best part is they have an icee machine. I had like 4 icee's.

I was a bit scared to try this place due to other bad reviews, but that helped me not have too high of expectations. Golden Corral is definitely not what it once was, but I still liked it. There were some foul smelling places in dining room, but we steered clear of those spots and found a great spot to sit. Bathrooms were not nearly as people described, but we did go in for a late lunch. Maybe it gets worse later, but they really weren't that dirty. Not sparkling clean but not gross either. If you like American food, you'll love the food. If you would rather have seafood or Asian food, there are better buffets in San Diego to go to. But if you have a kid, they will LOVE this place...the only thing that would make it better for a kid is if they had kraft mac n cheese. A few notes, there wasn't a chocolate fountain which was a bit disappointing. The icee machine was broke and the ice cream wasn't that great, but the other desserts were awesome and they did have NSA items. There also wasn't any chocolate syrup or sprinkles.

We are sitting here wondering how on earth we just paid over $40+ for such lousy food 😫 they turned what used to be a home town buffete into a sad, disgusting place. Just to mention a few things right above where the ā€œpremium meats grilled to perfectionā€ section of food… it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned since like probably when it was a home town buffete 🤢 The food I’m sure many dogs wouldn’t even eat. It looks and tastes like the lowest quality. $3.50 for a drink of the worst selection…. Nothing works, no forks or anything. It was quite depressing too. No one cleans up or tends to you, like no one cares about this place. Food on the floor, torn bear up seats, very little food selection and the worst quality. Don’t get me started on the ā€œdessertsā€ I’ll never come here again 🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮 The owners should truly be ashamed.

This was the WORST Veterans Day of my life. So my husband and I decided to go to this restaurant because his meal was free because he’s a veteran & we only had to pay for my meal. Well I will start by saying that I have never in my life felt so disrespected & humiliated by the Manager TERESA. So we arrived around 8:00 pm there was a small line but, we found out that we needed to pay and then get back in line. No signs telling us this. Another thing was they cut off the time for veterans at 8:00 pm my husband paid by 8:07 and they said he was the last one. I was feeling bad for those after us. So about 15-20 minutes later we got a booth so we sat our receipt on the table then proceeded to get food. I went to the taco bar because I wanted tacos and nachos. Well I seen the dried up refried beans and the dried up cheese and no taco meat. I asked three different workers if they could see if they could bring out the taco meat well after waiting for over fifteen minutes I decided I’m not waiting any longer. I go over to make a whole different plate of something else. Then I overheard my husband asking what did he do so I stopped and went over and asked what was going on? All I heard is the Manager TERESA ask me if he was my husband, I said yes and she said can you get him? I’m asking why what’s going on? And she tells me that he’s being too loud. I said really because I didn’t know that you have to talk at a certain level while eating in a restaurant. TERESA says yes it’s LAW. So, I didn’t know that before I had walked over another customer had insulted my husband and told him to stop chirping ( like he’s a bird). Unacceptable. We TERESA jumps on the rude customers side and began bashing my husband and threatened to call the Police on my husband and I three different times. Look, I’m a Nurse and my husband is a Plummer for a well respected company here. I felt that TERESA was so UNPROFESSIONAL, DISRESPECTFUL, not to mention we were offended/ humiliated. I just want to say that this restaurant was not that clean and the food had empty containers that should’ve been filled. But, all because of how we were treated by Golden Corrals choice in management we will not be going to eat there again. I will make sure to pass on our story to my coworkers at the hospital and my husband can to the same at his job. TERESA I felt she ruined our whole dinner and night out, I ended up asking for a refund and we will never...

I wish I could give less than 1 star , when I went inside I payed for my food but the manager was very rude , she had attitude because I asked a question about the restaurant prices. She was African American and she had braids in her hair, I think her name starts with J . We sat down and we got our food . The whole restaurant smelled like armpits, half the food trays were empty and the food that was there looked like it was sitting there for hours, I’ll definitely be contacting the FDA and have this restaurant investigated. I got myself 1 and I’m not picky I’ll eat whatever, but this was disgusting, it was nasty and as soon as I took a couple of bites I was sick to my stomach, I tried to eat carrot cake to try and get the taste out my mouth and the desserts were disgusting as well. I couldn’t eat anything, everything was nasty and didn’t look edible. I’ve never asked for a refund after eating in my life but this food was disgusting. I went up to the front and respectfully asked for my refund , she had an attitude but she gave me my money back, I went to get my family and leave and this manager followed me back to my table ( harassing me ) because I was already on my way out . Yelling at me saying because I was issued a refund after 40 minutes after paying, that they will be taking a picture of me and putting it in their restaurant and reserving the right to refuse service to me . Horrible food and horrible customer service. If I ever get so drunk I walk in here I hope somebody stops me , I hope to GOD somebody refuses to let me in this GOD forsaken place .

If my picture ends up on the wall I will be pressing charges. If the owner sees this review I hope he understands how every employee here hates their job and hates everyone that walks in . Please review the cameras so you can see how horrible your employees are . Please fire that manager, I promise you your restaurant...
