Antojitos Como en Casa — Restaurant in El Centro

I eat here at least once a month. This is one of my favorite resturants and my all time favorite Mexican restaurant and I have eaten at many all over California, Arizona, Texas, and several other states. My most recent visit was Sunday, 01/28/2024 . There were five in our party and they were very busy, but even still we were seated after a brief wait at their bar. Our server was a young lady and she was polite, funny, and attentive. Our food arrived in a timely manner and it was all good. Their enchiladas are wonderful. I especially enjoy their chicken enchiladas with mole sauce, and zucchini enchiladas, but everything here is delish. My friend raves about their Mexican coffee. The Resturant is small and they pack as many tables as they can in it, so sometimes you may find yourself sitting close to another table. Because of this we try to go at less busy times: after 9 am, before 11:30 and after 1 Pm. Dinner time is usually...

Very clean establishment. Extremely polite staff. Amazing Enchiladas. Almost more than I could eat. They give you chips and sauce to start.

The atmosphere and music are that of old. A nice reminder of Mexican culture from the past with pleasant pictures and decor around.

The plate was completely full. They mounded the rice and it would not fit on the plate if it was not.

Enchiladas were doused in green sauce to the point of me being worried it would not stay on the plate. It was amazing sauce.

Rice and beans were cooked to just the right consistency. Not mushy, not hard.

This place is excellent! World class food I would put up against ANY OTHER restaurant anywhere! Presentation, service, and food was perfect. I ordered two beef tostadas that were superbly constructed and tasted fantastic! My wife got the torta. This was also exquisitely constructed and the Carne Asada was cooked to perfection! My mother-in-law got a fried chimichanga. That was perfectly crisp with a great of amount of Carne Asada or beef inside! Their service was also excellent as both the host and my server made sure we were taken care of in such a friendly, polite way, that is honestly unique for California. I have lived all over the United States and this restaurant in El Centro California is world class and should be world famous. If you love Mexican cuisine, you must eat here! Spread the word and make this place world renowned!
