I got the kids burger, kids pb&j, the Crunch (hot dog w/ pb&J, topped with captain crunch), and falafel fritters.
Prep time - my order took only 6 minutes to prepare. 5/5
Kids burger - delicious and a realistic size for a kid! Simple toppings but executed so well, my toddler didnāt even ask for condiments. Abundance of fries. 5/5
Kids pb&J - I mean, itās a PB&J, ya know? Pretty standard. I do feel it could be grilled more as the bread had more of a ākind of staleā feel to it. The way it was packaged for to go could use improvement. The fries were on top of the sandwich so a fair amount of the fries were also PB&J fries. Itās pretty messy, which I donāt dock Barefoot for, but I think separation of sandwich and fries would improve the experience of a take-out PB&J exponentially. 4/5
The Crunch - oh, the high hopes I had for this weird little guy. The good: beautiful char on the dog. Flavors are so complimentary. Split top bun so itās easy to eat. The bad: the crunch was stale. Full on stale. Do you know how long it takes to pick off approximately 120 pieces of captain crunch from the top of a jelly covered hot dog while also preserving said jelly? Too long!! I learned a lesson and will get this dog captain-free in the future. In theory this is my favorite part of the meal, but the stale CC dropped its rating down. 3/5
Falafel fritters - tiny little tasty morsels. I do think they could have used some salt in the batter (is that what you call it?). Thereās a hint of heat in the falafel. The sauces included were both lovely. 4/5
Fries - 5/5. Fresh and still warm by the time...

Adam talked over the menu and gave me several suggestions. The Full Monte was the winner with beer battered onion rings. WOW what a sandwich!! The outside was the perfect crunch and the ham and cheese melted in my mouth. The onion rings were done very well.
I notice that people mentioned the chowder in past reviews. I couldn't see it on the menu and Adam didn't mention it to me earlier. He did say he was supposed to tell me about it but he forgot. The soup of the day was cheese and broccoli soup. I had to have some. What a great lunch topper. Very tasty but could have been hotter.
The atmosphere is what you would expect from a family diner/bistro. Very cozy.
I really enjoy looking at the built-in bakery that they have the front doors. Great added revenue generator. I was tempted to get some cheesecake but all I can see was my wife shaking her finger at me.
I do feel the prices are a little high. Next time I'm in town I will come back and try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am visiting from NYC for my nieceās high school graduation (shameless brag!). I arrived late Saturday evening, completely famished. My sister, who is a local, highly recommended this place. We walked in unknowingly 15 minutes before closing time. We acknowledged it was late, and we didnāt want to be an imposition, so weād find someplace else. The hostess insisted we stay, so we did!
The food was out of this world. I ordered the Rooster with the chicken grilled, and was surprised at how flavorful such a simple sandwich could be. The sweet potato fries are well worth the extra calories and I state truthfully that they are the best I have ever had. Our server was Yvette, and she was very attentive and friendly. She is also a very talented artist!
I hope to be back during my stay here. If not, thereās...
