During a recent business trip we were looking for a good dinner restaurant and decided on Fayrays. What a fantastic find!
For appetizers we ordered Brussels Sprouts (wonderfully crisp and flavorful), buffalo shrimp (delicately fried and coated lightly with a well-balanced BBQ sauce) and calamari (delicious fresh cut pieces fried perfectly on the outside yet still tender on the inside).
As main courses we had a couple of the rib eye steaks and the local duck. The steaks were massive, perfectly cooked to medium and super flavorful. The duck was expertly prepared and tender. All of the sides were great as well (especially the garlic mashed potatoes). We also tried the house made bread pudding which was absolutely wonderful - no raisins - moist - covered with a cinnamon, vanilla homemade sauce that gave it just the perfect finish. Wow!
We all agreed that this restaurant really cooks at the same level as many high end restaurants in much more populated cities. In addition, we did speak to the owner of the place for a little while and it was refreshing to see how many times he praised his staff and how much pride he took in just plain and simple serving good food.
Overall this was a great find and I highly recommend...
Read moreI NEVER give reviews. This evening at 8:25pm I walked into Fayrays as I have every Tuesday for the last 2 weeks and after being seated and offered a drink order I was told the kitchen was closed.. I questioned the male waiter as to what time they close because the sign says 9pm.....He let me know it varies...that’s it..Sorry... Last week I spent $181.62 on our meal and the week before $83.25 NEVER AGAIN WILL I SPEND MY HARD EARNED MONEY AT THIS LOCAL BUSINESS THAT DOESNT APPRECIATE MY PATRONAGE................ I own 4 Business myself- that’s why I’m in town and no matter what we do not turn customers away even if they walk in 1 second before closing time. Went to Laredo Grill across the square and they gladly served us and took my $60- Thank you Laredo Grill for serving us dinner after a...
Read moreWe had dinner here on Monday evening. I had a goat cheese salad, and my husband had some type of chicken with étouffée I think… he said the flavor was good, but it was way too runny, lots of liquid. The goat cheese salad was great. We enjoyed two cocktails and our server was great. Forgot her name but a female with braids and glasses. A large party came in as we were about to be finished, and it seemed to be overwhelming the staff. Also, I would say they need to choose a decorating style and stick with it. They have a Cajun/Louisiana flare, then some random paintings of flowers, then a sports jersey… kind of all over the place.. to be honest I still don’t know what genre of restaurant I was in.. The food was...
