Hola, hola, hola! Finally, an authentic 'Huevos Rancheros' in the valley, bravo! So I was born just 30 miles North of the birder of Baja Norte. We were immersed into many cultures. Mexican culture, her true cuisine, her people, the land, etc. have been a wonderful part of my appreciation for various cultures and their cuisines. San Diego has always enjoyed many such opportunities, CO, well not exactly until one August morning we tried Breakfast in America, and there it was, really wonderful authentic Mexican cuisine in our valley! 'BiA' is remodeling currently, as they should, expanding as their clientele has grown, so we haven't returned but will when they reopen hopefully by November. The chef's, staff, etc were friendly, the breakfast was exactly what I'd experienced when traveling deep into Mexico, Southern Calif and had longed for since moving here in '90. So growing up as a kid in North San Diego County, and loving this cuisine as an adult, 'BiA' has another new loyal client whenever he's in El Jebel. Fortunately business takes me back to SD region once in awhile where I still have favorites, no not Taco Bell or Chipotle, but in cities like Escondido, San Clemente, Redlands, Irwindale, Covina, Chattsworth, Granada Hills, Eden Gardens, Vista, Oceanside, Leucadia, etc, and on & on. No, none of these are high-brow locales, just businesses that have been around maybe 30, 40, 50 yrs, cause they're that good, and authentic, have generations of clients. That's what I forsee for...
Read moreI ordered a spinach, onion, mushroom omelette, no toast or hash browns, but with a toasted bagel and cream cheese on the side for takeout. The service was great, as it only took five minutes to prepare, but the food was awful. An omelette is supposed to be fluffy , full, and flavorful. The omelette from Breakfast in America was flat, thin, extremely greasy, with no flavor. They didn't even bother to season it with salt and pepper. The bagel was cold, soggy, greasy, wrapped in foil, and came with two small, round, plastic containers of cream cheese. It was obvious the cook had thrown the bagel on the griddle covered in grease for a second before wrapping it in foil. I had to soak all the grease off the omelette with a paper towel and the bagel was...
Read moreI don't know the name of the guy that runs the line in here but he's been there for years and watching him cook is hypnotic. His skills are on par with world class cooks or sous chefs. The food here is very standard breakfast fare - good crispy hashers, eggs, toast, etc. - plus some very awesome Mexican breakfast items. I would say that this place is as much about the experience as it is about the food. Nothing cooler than watching someone absolutely crush it cooking on the line - and for the results of that effort to be good, hearty American breakfast fare. I don't think there's even competition for a better breakfast spot in the...
