HOW did I go from a five star review on my first visit to a one star on my latest visit?
The SERVICE was HORRIBLE!
We were seated rather quickly. No waiting, and the waitress seemed friendly. She took our drink order, and a few minutes later took our lunch order.
The menu does not have a large salad selection. In fact, it has ONE salad: southwest salad. Now, the menu states that chipotle is the dressing, and the waitress told me that they only have two options for dressing, ranch or chipotle. I told her that I DID NOT want any chipotle on it, just ranch on the side.
When she brought the order, she said she forgot the ranch dressing, but would bring it right out. When she put the salad down, the chipotle was in it! It was brown, and at first, I thought that the avocados were bad. I pointed out to her that the chipotle was in my salad. She INSISTED that I try it, saying that it was “good”. She had obviously forgotten to write down that I specifically asked that chipotle not be used.
I was hungry, and thought maybe she’s right, maybe it’s good. She left, and I had one bite. She was wrong! (I do not like chipotle and I never had!) It was awful, and I asked her for another salad with ranch dressing.
At this point, her attitude changed. She went from being friendly to acting like we were a bother. And it took a very long time for my corrected salad to leave the kitchen. My daughter was almost finished with her meal before my salad came out.
By that time I had lost my appetite. I told her I didn’t want the salad anymore and asked for the check.
The waitress was extremely rude by that point. Her attitude and tone of voice were highly questionable.
The entire experience was very dissatisfying and disappointing!
Given how much restaurants (especially including this one) are charging these days, the food better be exceptional and the service as close to perfect as humanly possible — or why spend the money at all?
I’m not going back here anytime soon. 1/5.
First review:
Another Broken Egg Cafe is a new restaurant that opened about two weeks ago, and it’s extremely busy and popular! It is off of Mesa by Sunland Park Drive, where the Village Inn was once many years ago.
We arrived at 8 am on this Sunday, and there was a short line to be seated, but we were seated almost immediately.
The hostess was friendly, as was the waiter. He was very polite and attentive.
The menu is packed with choices. We ordered coffee, milk, two orders of Chicken and Waffles, and one Traditional Day Starter.
(An interesting factoid is that all of the tile work done at this restaurant was done by Hiram, who did all of the tile work at our new house! He said that the owner is a very good person, and treated his crew with the utmost respect!)
We must return, and soon!
Highly...
Read moreI have visited this restaurant twice now since it's opened, both on a Sunday morning.
The first time I went by myself at opening time, which is 7:00 a.m. I was the second one there. One thing that annoys me personally is that I got seated in a small table for two that is lined up against a wall that blocks my view. It's an okay table but I felt I could have been seated in a better place considering everything was available.
I ordered the Eggs Benedict and I upgraded my side fish to get the Bourbon pancakes (see pictures). Both dishes were good. They eggs were properly cooked, but it got a bit messy trying to cut through the English muffin. The Bourbon pancakes were delicious and they didn't even require syrup. I highly recommend those if you want something sweet.
Unfortunately, the prices are a bit high compared to other restaurants nearby. My tab, which included a $4 coffee, came close to $50 bucks with the tip. That's alot for only one person. The Eggs Benedict dish is listed for $18, which is expensive considering it's only two eggs.
On the second visit, I went there with a guess and we still got seated in a small table for two. This type of table is too small for two people. I even heard the party next to me complaining about the lack of space they had on their similar table.
We ordered the full order of Beignets along with the Tiramisu French Toast (seasonal menu) and the Bacquezo Omelette. The Beignets were served with a honey dipping sauce and they were so so. You should be able to eat Beignets by themselves and these felt a bit dry. The Tiramisu French Toast is a good choice for those who love anything Tiramisu. It came with two eggs and I ordered bacon as my protein. The Bacquezo Omelette was also good, according to my guest, but I didn't try it because I don't like Chorizo.
The only bad thing about our order was the side of potatoes. Most dishes come with a side of Fresh Country Potatoes. The ones we got were tasteless. They had no seasoning whatsoever and they were overly cooked. My guest had to add salt, pepper, and ketchup in order to eat them.
Service quality is average here. Both times that I have been there were more than adequately staffed.
Overall this place is a good restaurant to visit for breakfast. It is somewhat expensive so be prepared for that. It will usually cost you about $25 per person, give or take, including tip.
The way they remodeled this location is nice. It has a bar area as well if you like that type of seating arrangement when you are on your own. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants...
Read moreFirst time at this restaurant and the experience was both good and negative. At first, it is not very clear that their parking lot is on the left side of the building. Make sure to park on their designated parking lot because the right side is for other businesses and the restaurant even has a warning sign that your vehicle may be towed if you park on the other businesses side (right side of the building). It is also not very clear where the main entrance is until you figure it out as you walk close to the restaurant. It was around 12 pm at noon, on a Sunday when we got there, there was a waiting list of about 25 minutes and once at our table, we waited another 25-35 minutes for our food. It was a busy time so the waiting was reasonable but it is something to keep in mind. The food was delicious and it had a great presentation. We had omelettes, pancakes, coffee and water. We were under the impression that the pancakes came with the omelettes but they're charged separately, it's about $19 per meal plus drink. Unfortunately, the pancakes were not hot and what's worse, we were seated in a booth under an air vent (see picture). The refrigerated air felt nice but strong enough that it was cooling off our meals and coffee as well (see video). We tried to keep our food and coffee warm by covering it with our napkins but we weren't successful. We told ourselves that we should eat fast but it was inevitable to feel uncomfortable when you prefer to enjoy your food hot or at least warm. We noticed that the air would turn on and off sporadically and the vents are above every other booth at least on the right side of the sitting area. My companion had to ask the waitress to reheat his pancakes. This made our first time experience less than good. However, the food and service was good enough to visit this restaurant again but we will be mindful and ask not to be seated under an...
