Food King — Local services in El Paso

Attached are recent purchases at Food King that violates the SNAP program policies implemented by the Federal Govt food subsidy for 'at risk children, families and disabled. For approx 4 months I've noticed Food King charging SNAP from a d benefits at a 10% surcharge thats nationally known to be illegal if accepted in the exchange SNAP Program. I have alerted the Federal program and investigators of this abuse of funds, spoken with management and now getting this news to citizens of Elpaso. Look at your receipts! Here are two to compare. One Walmart the other Food King. The food subsidy SNAP program doesn't allow ANY store to take beyond food purchase price. Food King illegally takes 10% of your EBT food balance. This is ILLEGAL! On the left incorrect way to charge SNAP. On the right is the correct SNAP charge in this program. Owner response dies not reflect the charges stated. It shows CLEARLY that benefits are DEDUCTED at 10% of SNAP balance. That's illegal NATIONWIDE. No store deducts anything other than total price. Food King takes 10% of subtotal and its deducted from SNAP food balance. That's illegal in any court of law. States nor Store/Vendors can deduct anything from SNAP food purchase....

This place is going from bad to worse. Today, I went grocery shopping as usual and a woman, who I imagine is a supervisor or manager, yelled at us from afar and rushed us through the checkout line. I understand that she is stressed, but there are ways to address customers. Also, she doesn't have to do it in a rude manner. That same woman once got very angry and came into the restroom when I was using it to tell me they were out of order. What kind of person does that? If I had already entered the restroom and she did not put any sign saying out of service! ,How are we, the customers, supposed to know? So, coming out of the restroom, I faced her and told her the same thing. But she responded in a very rude and haughty manner. She definitely lacks customer service skills. We love this store because of the reasonable prices, array of products, fresh vegetables (and thunderstorms), bulk bins, WOW stickers, and multi-manned, low-wait checkouts. We shop five or six different stores for our groceries but purchase most at Food King. We especially like buying "non-GMO" products from Mexico and other countries at the store. Whomever thought up this sales concept deserves a hearty pat on the back!!!
