Los Toreados Restaurant — Restaurant in El Paso

So tonight I decided to take my family out to eat to Los Toreados. I was actually surprised to see that there was only a few other people eating at the restaurant, considering the outstanding reviews I saw online. Regardless, we went in, and were not seated.. we just found a place to sit. The waitress took our order, and the food was done quickly, and it was truly delicious. I would like to go back; however, the restaurant staff is in need of a complete overhaul. The waitresses, and another guy that was with them, was talking very inappropriately about each customer that was spending their hard earned money at the restaurant. They were talking so loud, we could hear what they were saying, and it was pretty disrespectful. On top of that, a bunch of the employees came in from outside with a bunch of supermarket bags, like they went shopping when the business was slow. So, good food, yes. Scumbag...

The food was good and service was good, but the reason for the 2 stars is because of the lack of adherence to COVID precautions. Many of the servers and cooks in the kitchen were walking around without a mask on or with their mask hallways down their face. Also, servers were not complying with social distancing. Finally, employees were not enforcing customers to use face masks when entering the building, they were allowed to walk away from their tables without masks on, and when entering the building employees were not enforcing use of the body temperature thermometer they have by the door. Suffice to say that when I noticed all these things I did not finish my meal, paid my tab, and left. Very nice, clean and cozy. Food has good, strong, spiced flavor and is authentic Mexican. Staff is friendly and accommodating. This is a favorite place for locals. They offer lunch specials that include soup, main course and dessert for about $8. They also serve good sized breakfast burritos and menudo. Food portions, good size plates, good flavor, clean, friendly. There's nothing to dislike about this place. In the picture: Enchiladas rojas de pollo con queso.

Update: After going a few times and trying different dishes I noticed the quality is very inconsistent. Once I got chicken not well cooked, which I really disliked, and other time their beef tacos were frankly subpar. I would still recommend for breakfast and burritos, but not for lunch. I haven't been here for dinner....
