Ordered the moist "risk-it" brisket. It did the trick. The coal-slaw was OK, but lacked any taste-bud activator. Ask for white or wheat bread from the counter person when u order. They have it at the register, but if you don't ask, you no get. There were very few patrons sitting at the wooden tables. Good, becuz of covvy. They put your chow into a black plastic rectangular box at the counter. What does not make sense is, if u order a "side" you have to double-back to get it. You go to your right, 8'oclock, to retrieve from the glass door coolers and the clients who are in line behind you have to "make way." Strange sequence of events. If Rudy's is trying to sell or upsell the sides, I understand. But with covvy, some folks don't like the close encounter of the counter-kind. The fixin' "bar" was generous and plentiful. There were lots of 4pk 🍋 in a plastic zip lock bag for you sweet or unsweet tea. I got a gob of pickles cuz they were hunter green, hydrated and fresh. You can buy a fountain drink or tap into the four baby "tea silos" that house the a4mentioned "T." Ice is a given. The condiments were decent. All the staff were geared towards customer satisfaction. Helpful, courteous and attentive. My meal was $18.18 [and that includes a discount]. For a one-person lunch, that was steep. That's why I got 5 refills. No yellow sweetener, only sugar and the pink packs. Sort of a bummer, but not a kill-shot. Because there were police officers dining inside, my dining experience was comfortable. Lastly, there is a 10% military discount. The young man running the register next to mine asked the customer to my left. Then I chimed in that I was prior service. Ask, and yee...
Read moreI'd give this place 6 stars if I could! Staff is always super friendly and attentive. The young man that helped me today was so nice. He asked me how my 4th of July holiday was and thanked me for my service in the Army. The young ladies that were behind the counter were also very nice. Nowadays, it can be hard to find employees will be that attentive and friendly. They seem like they enjoy their job. That's what keeps me going back! Oh, did I mention that the food is AMAZING!? Right when you walk in you get snacked in the face with the intoxicating smell of real wood smoked meat that draws you in like a tractor beam! They prepare all the food in front of you so you get to drool for a bit while they are getting it ready. They don't skimp either. The brisket sandwich is loaded up with smoky goodness. If you want a good meal, go here. If you want friendly people that actually care about their job and take pride in what they do, go here. Yes, it's a little pricier than a fast food joint. Trust me, it's worth it. Thank you to the awesome people at the Rudy's on Joe Battle, you have a...
Read moreLast Sunday we visited the restaurant right after my grandmothers funeral. We were a group of about 20 to 25 people with kids included. I walked in and the place was not full but it was getting there, I notice the back room was empty but closed. I asked the first employee I saw if we could use the back room he did mention it was only for reservations, but he told me he will ask the manager. He came back and told me yes, you can use it for your group but it’s a bit hot we just turned on the air. The room was perfect for our group especially in a time so full of emotions. We were able to eat and remember our grandmother in a room just for us. When the lunch was over and everyone started to leave, I stopped another employee to see if me and my husband can thank the manager for the room. The employee brought out the same employee from the first encounter to our surprise. I really want to thank all the employees especially the manager for his hospitality during a really hard time. My husband and I will come back to this Rudy’s...
